No one has had launch time woes of performing worse then a 7 year old console....That's  a new one. The PS3 and 360 did not have that problem...

That's not true.  The PS360 were both outclassed by a PS2 that was coming off of a dominant performance and outsold the competition month after month.  What you're saying is not true.

What are you on about?? PGR3 was clearly far more advanced then any game any of the existing consoles offered. What game performed worse on either the PS3 or 360 then it did on the PS2/Xbox/GC???

We're not talking about the same thing.  I'm talking about sales, you're talking about hardware power!

Misunderstanding.

But yeah, you're right.  But the Wii U will perform above current gen once devs develop specifically for it or develop software with it as lead console.  Quick and dirty ports for launch always come up looking like this.

Exactly. One merely has to point at games like G.U.N and COD3, to see that the PS2 versions often looked better or the same as the 360 versions. Seems so long ago now.

Obviously previous generations had such leaps as adding 3D or notable power, and it's one of those things where 2x as much power may make it look 10% better. So it's far more a cost/power scenario now than ever.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Ah righty. My only concern is the hardware isn't enough to support future engines and so it may find itself left behind with last gen games and snubbed from next-gen games.

The problem with Wii U launch is there are just too many ports of games that came out on PS360 already. No coincidence Zombi U is the second best selling title.

Nintendo really needs to come with it in 2013. And I think they need something huge for next Xmas.

I agree with you Kenology.

Were you not in another post saying youre disappointed that Wii U was not getting other ports shown at VGA?

If Nintendo gives us a new Smash Bros, Mario Kart and (hopefully!) a new Mario and Metroid in glorious HD ... THAN the system won't fail ... but these are games which are already in development (except Metroid :/)

There was a massive rumour list a while ago stating that Nintendo does have big game announcement in the next years... 2 new IP's and more games like Bayonetta 2 (be prepared ;)

I'm sure Nintendo won't dissapoint... and thats the clue = If you think Mario U or Zelda U than you think to yourself= oh yeah.. that is gonna be fucking awesome xD

for everyone who didn't read those rumours..here' a link=

Actually it would fail as you have to consider if those titles are enough to get people to buy the console if they already own a wii. What Nintendo desperatly needs is new franchises to lure gamers in rather then flogging the same horse that is only relevant to existing fans. Considering the limited gamer following Nintendo now have due to the lack of core games on the Wii, they need to make more original content rather then re-releasing the same game time and time again.

The true savior of the Wii U this gen will have to be the third parties if they are aiming for the core with this console. This console doesn't not have casual novelty written all over it. I believe the Wii U will be the companion console rather than the leader in the same vein as the Gamecube and N64.

I don't think thats really a problem. This is what console launches are like, it will be the same for everyone and has been the same for everyone in the past. 3 or so console exclusives then a bunch of 3rd party ports and multiplatforms. The problem is the lack of visible titles in the future, both exclusive and 3rd party. Like any generation leap, there needs to come a point where there are a ton of games readily availble on the Wii U which you cannot get on ps3/360 or at least the Wii U version is clearly suprior both in controls and performance.

Back when the system was announced I was a bit dissapointed but I thought there was a chance I would buy it day 1 because I expected 2013 to be its year. Superiro versions of all the big 3rd party titles (GTAV, DMC, Metal Gear Rising, Bioshock Infinite etc), as well as there own exclusives. From the looks of it, Nintendo Are trying to spread out all the current wii U titles because they have nothing planned for most of 2013, hence Pikim and wii fit U being push back to summer. I expect only another 2-3 games this year and I only expect one of them to be big (Mario Kart in november, possibly a Ninendogs HD and Animal crossing U between July and october). So 2013 is looking better for 360 and ps3 (especially ps3 with all its exclusives), then it is for the wii U.

Literally all I have to look forward to is Pikmin and the expected Mario Kart game :(
