Does anyone else's Wii not load some games right away after you haven't played them in a while and sometimes freeze then say error, remove disk, turn off Wii, and read the instruction manual. Mine does sometimes, not all the times but when it does it really annoys me.

Mine has done that a few times. It has also failed to load games after a few days of unuse. I just restart the wii and no problem. I notice that if I start the Wii up and wait a couple minutes I never have the problem. The only times it does do it is when I fly through the menu and hit the start button on the disc channel too quick.

My wii does some noises while loading, similar to floppy disks loading noises. Is this normal ?

I've also encountered about 5 "please eject the disk and turn off the console" errors in the first week I've got the console, but none after (I have it for 6 weeks - so 5 weeks with no error).

I am a little concerned about the possibility that I might need to get mine serviced soon. It is noisier than it used to be when reading discs. I have have not problems with artifacts, but I have had it freeze a few times using the internet channel. Technically, it also freezes when playing Star Trek : Conquest but that is a game issue not a Wii issue.

A few weeks ago I was transporting my Wii back up to my room from the living room... I had everything in a small box [meant for CD storage] and took everything but the Wii out... plugged in and set up all the wires, then picked up the Wii.

I dropped it from about 3cm up and it fell and tipped over on to it's side.
When I first turned it on it made a juddering noise for about 5 seconds, I was scared i'd broken it.
Anyhow after that nothing wrong has happened thankfully... I suspect the drop may have moved the Wii sports disc inside, which didn't like being turned.

Basically make sure you take the disc out before moving the Wii, because if I had dropped it from higher it might have dislodged it properly and got stuck in there.

Same experience as I had with mine. I began seeing the graphics artifacts around mid/late October, and held off doing the RMA because I had so many new games I was wanting to play. I finally filled out the form online in November to return my Wii, and still didn't send it off after I got my hands on SMG. Finally, when early December rolled around I got a PS3, so I figured that was the time to ship off the Wii while I had a new diversion for a week.

I think it was only two or three days from my filling out the RMA request on the MyNintendo Web site to receiving the UPS shipping label, and it wound up being about 9 or 10 days total before my replacement Wii arrived. The return slip that accompanies the new Wii covers your SN in and the new SN out, so that you have a proper paper trail proving ownership of the new unit, but in my case Nintendo did not transfer anything other than my MyNintendo account link. They did not copy any of my save data or any of my Miis. I did have all my saves on a Memory card, but I had forgotten to copy my Miis over to a Wiimote (not that it matters, because they wouldn't be editable anymore on the new Wii).

Nintendo's CS is awesome, however I don't think their R&D team does them any favors. It's not NoA's CS teams' fault, but having to distribute a new friend code and recreate new Miis because they can't be backed up to SD cards or edited on new consoles -- really just having to go through all of that again is a HUGE problem in the core design of a systems' avatar functionality. I'm very disappointed with Nintendo in that respect ... nearly a years worth of FC exchanges, Mii-trades, and Wii Sports records and points: Gone.

My Wii kept freezing on the channel menu screen. Spoke to Nintendo in the UK who sent the shipping label. I asked that because I was out of warranty, could they tell me the price of repair and whether I could keep saved data. Unfortunately, a Wii turned up in the post yesterday, no covering note on how to reset it (had to make another phone call), everything gone (all Miis, 80 hours on MySims, 10 VC games etc.). I have emailed Nintendo and wait for their reply...

It sounds ok to me. Firstly the Wii drive is quite noisy in comparison to the GameCubes... not noisy enough to be noticable when playing at my normal volume level in the day, but I have played Endless Ocean at night with the volume down and it can be a bit annoyingly loud then. As for the game crashing... I haven't had the message come up like you [please turn off... etc] but 2-3 times SSX Blur has crashed [everything just stopped moving so I had to manually restart].... I did get that same message a number of times with my GC, but when you turn it off and on again its usually fine. If you haven't had any problems since the first week I wouldn't worry, but if any problems persist then call Nintendo and tell them [if like me it only happens on 1 game it is likely to be the games fault... I blame EAs shoddy merchandise]

My new Wii arrived at my house today.

None of my data was transferred over, though they apparently did switch over my account information, so I retained all my Wii Points and VC purchases and was able to redownload everything. Most of my game saves were backed up to an SD card, so the only thing I lost of significance was the Guitar Hero 3 data. I'll get that back easily enough. I did have to recreate all my Miis, which took a while, and I'll have to exchange my Wii number and GH3 friend code again. Bummer.

Total Time w/o Wii: 16 days
Total Cost: $14.04
Total Customer Support Headaches: 0

The repair sheet said they replaced the system board, which is what I expected.

A thought just popped in my head. Couldn't you have saved the Miis to your Wiimote, and then put them back on your new console when it came?
