Want to know a funny thing? Here in Italy we're flooded by Penelope Cruz advertising Prof. Layton, 3DS and 3DS XL. PS3 and PSV get their advertising in football matches, but if you don't watch football you don't see  much other PS advertising. Then there is Assassin's Creed III having some ads. Everything else in gaming world is still receiving almost no advertising at all. This Nintendo strategy doesn't make much sense, unless they acknowledged Wii U is supply constrained, so they're waiting for bigger shipments to start proper advertising, to avoid wasting it and possibly pissing off people by getting them hyped and then not making them all able to buy.

Yeah Playstation is mostly advertised at football here, but sometimes on TV too. If anything, Christmas and the month before it, is the only time there are many gaming adverts, otherwise there are little.

All I know, is Nintendo like to reach out to everyone by putting celebrities in Wii/ 3DS adverts, I guess in some cases they over do it. But, yeah the last time I checked, gaming wasn't that big in Italy. That's why i'm not that surprised about the lack of ads there

Keep in mind that Vita launched in February in the UK....Wii U is launching in the holiday season.
This should definitely sound some alarms over at Nintendo HQ.

More like Nintendo didn't do a good enough job launching the new product if people don't even realise it is a new product.  Should have called it Wii2 or an entirely new name, made it clear is a different product and not an extention.  They made same mistake with DS/3DS, people presume was just a DS with 3D, even forced Nintendo to make adverts that made clear was a new console.  I bet WiiU has similar ads in near future.


You are wrong.  It has already happened.  Nintendo is trying to make distinction between the Wii and Wii U with their advertising.  They are calling it a next gen console in their ads.  Nintendo has to inform the misinformed public.

And Vita was plentiful everywhere whilst trying to get a Wii U in a high street retailer (where most people still shop) is actually proving extremely difficult based on my anecdotal experience in town yesterday where it's now "pre order to get one for Christmas" in many shops. I think they have indeed got stock shortages. Apparently they've shafted Europe to provide more units for the US an Japan, though whether thats true I don't know.

All I know is I love my Vita and now I've got ZombiU, I'm loving my Wii U. I'll leave you guys to argue all the doom and gloom, but I do believe Nintendo have been "DOOOMED" for the past 15 years, yet somehow they're still here ;)
