Basically selling out in th UK is actually really good imo. Why should they ship that many units there after all the UK have put them through?

China attacking Nintendo's wiiu factory.

um the factory is in japan though...

and they said it wont affect prodcution, so is Nintendo lying?

I don't understand the basic bundle at all, its incredibly unattractive next to the premium one. The market seems to agree with me on this one as well, sales tell us as much. I'm fairly certain they'll faze it out of the market pretty soon and launch one more bundle slightly above or slightly below premium for a decent price. Probably around when the console becomes profitable, which won't be too long.

Did anyone on vgchartz buy the basic Wii U? Will anyone do it? I won't even consider it, for only 50$ more, the premium is a steal.

I did; hate the black color and fingerprints, and didn't want NL at all. I bought Mass Effect 3 instead, and absolutely love it.

Too early to call. I'll attribute this to two things, low supply of Wii U's is evident, and a mediocre campaign at most. Not many know what the Wii U is :|

Roughly a 1000 units per million people in both the US and UK launches

Anyway sold out is good, low supply is bad

So, Nintendo bombed so hard they can't sell all the WiiU units they didn't ship?

Nailed it.

People can get 360s or Ps3s, superior consoles for lower prices with much better games and a giant games catalog...

Isn't that true of every launch? Are you just making a point that no one should buy any new console within the first 18 months?

Yikes! That's significantly worse than the Vita's launch numbers. (64k)

1) That was 4 days for Vita vs 2 for Wii U

3 days not 2. Wii U launched on friday.

1) That was 4 days for Vita vs 2 for Wii U

2) Vita then dropped to 17k the next (full) week. If Wii U has stock available, it will be well ahead of 17k

3) UK as a basis for comparison will always help Sony consoles over Nintendo ones.

2) Well I would hope it doesn't drop much because of the holidays. Vita launched early this year and had no holiday sales to help it.

3) Why is that?

2) This is true, but not really relevant is it.

3) Because Sony consoles always do quite well in the UK compared to how they do in the rest of the world, and Nintendo consoles always do quite poorly in the UK compared to the rest of the world.

Anyway, I'm out of this thread because speculation at this point is useless. Nintendo shipped a few tens of thousands, and sold a few tens of thousands. Whether each of us believes that Nintendo shipped that low number because they were anticipating low demand, or if it was because they weren't able to ship lots of consoles for the UK launch without causing serious supply constraints in USA/Japan (or delaying the UK launch), is entirely going to be decided by whether you own a Wii, or a PS360, and not be rational analysis of the few facts we have.
