Forums - Microsoft - Xbox720 clocked speed low?

and i present to you the generation of low CPU speeds

Seriously... do xbox360-ps3 fans really think that next gen will be the same as ps2 to ps-3 graphics....

Every gen is.

So what's the pipeline length like, is it a risc cpu? How much cache memory is there, does it have a onboard memory controller? How many cores, how many threads per Core? The list goes on and on but basically the guy is full of shit and this is not news just some random ass guess of a figure which is meaningless without context.

No he is legit and has been right before.

his connection is legit he has always been right.

don't hate

Then why did he not give additional details that make it more specific of a claim? Final clockspeed is something that can be varied close to launch as it's only a firmware tweak, so he could be right now yet wrong by the time of the 720 launch. Yet the choice of CPU was decided more than a year ago by commercial necessity, so that information would be fixed and is verifiable earlier.

Because the question he was being asked was related to what he said. What your asking wasn't what he address just saying that the xbox720 ATM is clocked at it.

You can use your own argument on why he didn't address the pipelines that well on the wiiu which on iwata ask address with hardware creators. We can go on a huge debate about wiiu CPU and how was designed based by developers but if asked the basic question wat is it clocked at we get the answer 1.3 it's about the architecture and how everything works together clock speed isn't the be all only pc gamers think that because they never had to create game around a system they just put a disk in.

this guy usually doesn't take sides so for him to go out of his way it's clear that he is sure of it. No reason to lie.

I'm expecting something between 2.5 and 3ghz for both PS4 and NexBox but this is just a guess.

maybe it cause i am not a graphics whore but i can play battlefield 3 at max at 5 frames per a second and honestly it didn't look like that big of a leap to me but then again i honestly i don't give two shits about graphics and just want a good game

Does it matter if its not 3.2GHz like the 360? Clock speed is becoming irrelevant in this day and age. Architecture is more important

Power consumption is the primary constraint these days. For phones, tablets, consoles, laptops and servers, companies design around a thermal maximum and then choose the best processor for their application within it.

Clockspeed is one tradeoff you can make against power. Architecture (instruction order, core width, threading, pipeline depth) is another. In 2011 AMD chose to make a high 4GHz clockspeed the primary design goal at the expense of core width (and not power).

If we are going with rumors then the 720 is meant to have 8 cores.

Then you are really gonna be pissed... grow up for god sake... if it continues like this the industry will be over before 2015
