During yesterdays Heat-Spurs NBA game, I saw a couple of PS All-Stars Battle ads and even a few for CoD Vita.

And I finally saw my first Wii U TV spot -- a single Batman Arkham City commercial. I almost fell out of my chair, lol.

If it was within my budget, I would love to have a Wii U.  I like where Nintendo is going, Zombi U and Bayonetta have me hopeful, The Wonderful 101 looks amazing, and I think the gamepad could potentially be great for RPGs.

I grew up with the NES and SNES but I had no interest in the Wii until I started reading about the Operation Rainfall games.  I simply no longer care anything about platformers or Mario so for me a Nintendo console has to have other genres before I want it.  Being a Nintendo console or not has nothing to do it, it's entirely about the selection of games and I think most people (not forum goers) would agree.

I'm not going to deny that I'm looking at the PS4 as my expected first choice.  I love Worldwide Studios and the Playstation list of exclusives really appeal to me because of their variety.  As far as a second console goes, however, if I can afford it, I would probably lean toward the Wii U given what we know right now.

This. Nintendo makes games everyone can play but their main goal is to bring the family into the living room. It was my start up console like the Wii is for many other people. Lets see how long Nintendo can hold onto those people. Nintendo wants the COD sales but they dont want to get their hands dirty. They were responsible for gaming becoming huge and they want to stay relevant to the  serious gamers whom they brought into gaming. 

they have a chance to make it better with the WiiU,the "all round" console that's what reggie said on mnsb channel to that lady the other day,battling microsoft in the USA for that market will be quite difficult for anyone now though with the "online" crowd cemented which one can only assume is a major pull to the "older teen" market

While I understand what they're trying to do, I think the huge problem with this is that everyone already has either a 360 or PS3 or even both. 

And Nintendo's bringing to the table a lot of ports or similar types of experiences. I think to appeal to this audience they needed at least a half-genertion leap in hardware and "no questions about it" better versions of all the top multi-plat titles. That combined with the year head start maybe could've bought them some traction.

Yeah, thats what the third parties will do for them. They need someone like Rare that they can depend on for those titles.

@happydolphin SK is no longer with ninty. There pretty much dead as a company and you keep bringing up third parties. Thats not what I asked you, i asked can NINTENDO make those kinds of games, not THQ, Namco, Capcom etc. A straight up NINTENDO in house dev team. I know they can contract someone outside to do it, ala Other M any can do that. And yes it does make a difference because it still isnt a Nintendo made game.

I kind of agree with him that Nintendo should start making M rated games (I think they would do amazing things if they had the chance ex. Horror game on gamecube). They can start a new game division with it´s own name to not be direcly asociated to nintendo and their image just so they have that kind of material on their consoles.

I´m sick and tired of the treatment Nintedo gets and i want the to go for the kill, invest in new studios and just support their own ecosystem fully and let the third parties that are serious join said ecosystem. That´s the only way for nintendo to go forwared beause 3rd parties won´t ever help them in any way, as you seen this gen many choose the way that could lead them to banrupcy insteaad of cashing in on the wii with a serious effort.

I've been seeing a lot of Arkham City: Armored Edition ads, actually. Comedy Central's been putting up a lot of Wii U ads.

I don't know about were you live but yep NOTHING was advertised here.

their top selling first party games like mario get barely advertised too. I am yet to see ONE WiiU add.

In contrast, I have seen SONY of all people advertising assassins creed III for PS3 and VITA and that isn't even their own game.
