The OP said "* Sunday, Nov. 18 – Friday, Nov. 23"... nothing wrong here.

Wow, the Sony Squad were quick to come in here and start talking down the 360....

What's the record for most consoles sold in its 7th year? I wonder if the 360 even comes close...

Very good for Microsoft. I bet no one would of imagined that a 7 year old console would be selling that well on a holiday. Anecdotally, it makes sense. Every shopping cart I saw had an Xbox 360, while the pallet (and I'm talking a huge physical pallet) of Wii's was still sitting while every other item was essentially snapped up.

2013 is the 360's last hurrah for BF sales.. I imagine they'll drop the price to $99 as the next Xbox launches. Either way, the 360 has had one of the most incredible runs in the history of gaming.

In general this entire generation has been incredible. Who expected 3 consoles to surpass 70M?

I don't think anyone did. I thought that they'd all hit about 50 million. But both publishers and gamers have responded well to the increased hardware cycle, and its benefitted everyone, really.

Hopefully we all get so spoiled next round as well.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Sony just announced that over 401,490,000 PlayStation devices have been sold world-wide.

Somewhere in there are the PS3 and PSV sales for Black Friday week.

So

360 > Wii + Wii U
360 > DS + 3DS
360 > WiiU + 3DS

I'm hoping

360 > PS3 + PSV + PSP

could be tough, but one can hope.

Tough? Pretty easy if you ask me...

PSP won't even do 100k, PSV will be lucky to do 100k as well...so PS3 will have to do under 550k for Xbox 360 to come out on top. Not unheard of.

Anyway we probably wont' get official numbers from Sony... here's what they gave us last year.

"PS3, according to Sony, has done well for itself during the official start to the all-important holiday shopping season: Black Friday. IndustryGamers heard from a Sony representative who said that sales for the console and games were indeed strong. Numerous retailers, including big box stores like Walmart, had fantastic deals to drive interest.

"Consumer demand for the PlayStation 3 system, peripherals and software was very strong during the Black Friday weekend. Gamers were quick to recognize the incredible value of the PS3 with its free access to PlayStation Network, Blu-ray capabilities, and the industry's best lineup of new titles, including the critically acclaimed Uncharted 3," an SCEA spokesperson commented to IndustryGamers.

An exact sales figure was not provided. We've also asked Microsoft and Nintendo for their statements on the Black Friday weekend. We'll be sure to let you know what we hear."

The Xbox was created in retaliation to Sonys market dominance.  Seamus was the sole member of the Xbox team to stay after the original Xbox launched. Microsoft couldnt give two shits about an actual gaming console until they brought it up at a board meeting. I know the story, Seamus and his DirectX team  studied the specs on the PS2 inside and out before they even launched the Xbox. Anyone is a threat to PC is trying to in some way become a multimedia hub, but Sony never took it overboard, Microsoft will. Sony puts multimedia first because they create hardware and that hardware can be the format lead for their console. Microsoft wants multimedia not a format lead but simply to create an objective of having an all in one device (like a cable box/PC hybrid). Gamers come second in all of this, because Microsoft knows they wont leave because of games like Halo and Gears. Meanwhile, Sony is walking out of this gen loaded with games, because that is their aim and their goal. The way you walk out of a room is sometimes a better impression than the way you came. Microsoft is going on with Apple the same way they always have as well. Sony set out to prove that console games could be just as much a viable option as PC games, Microsoft set out to shut out that notion and just ended up helping them at the same time by increasing the consoles dominance and now PC game companies are focusing on consoles. Microsoft failed to save PC gaming. Steam and Blizzard saved PC gaming, plain and simple. It wont get anymore clear cut than that. Who was going to stand up for console games, Nintendo? Hah! The way Nintendo was running things (no matter how great it was to me as a kid) was making PC gamers scroff and arcade heads laugh when those markets were still majorly popular. The PS2's existence changed all of that and the Xbox 360 only furthered Sonys aspirations. There existence is only to be the North American alternative. 85% of their games will mirror one another at all times, because that Microsofts reason for being in gaming, to keep Sony down.

Need I remind you that the Playstation was created in retaliation to Nintendo when they backstabbed Sony. Sony didn't give a shit about making a game console either until Nintendo gave them the middle finger and left them high and dry at the altar. You think Sony gives two shits about you? You think Sony is your friend, lol. Sony puts hardware first over good software, that's why they are losing this gen. Microsoft focused on making fun games. Just look at the PS Move, no originality, no good games, and the sales validate that. They ripped off the Wiimote. What did they do? They created a plastic stick with a ball at the end of it, probably the lamest idea they ever conceived of. It's like the Sony execs sat around and were like fuck it let's throw this out there and see if people take the bait this time. But people weren't fooled. Microsoft atleast put some thought and new, innovative ideas into the Kinect. It just pisses me off because it seems Sony follows Nintendo and Microsoft in everything they do, they just copy and steal ideas from other companies. When Nintendo introduced the analogue stick and rumble pak on the N64 controller, Sony had to have sticks and rumble on their controller. Nintendo put motion gaming on the map and Sony had to copy that. Nintendo had Smash Bros, Sony had to copy that with Allstars Battle Royale. Sony tried to mimic Xbox Live with Playstation Plus. Microsoft had Halo and Sony brought out that turd Killzone. Microsoft had a home button on the controller, Sony had to have that too. Microsoft and Sega had triggers on the controller first, and Sony copied that. "Sony is walking out of this gen loaded with games"? What loads of games are you talking about? Last I checked their weren't a whole lot of good games on PS3.

ugh could you please stop with these walls of text and delete the previous quotes ?

You're right. Halo, Forza and Fable.

Just look at the PS Move, no originality, no good games, and the sales validate that. They ripped off the Wiimote. What did they do? Kinectimals.

It just pisses me off because it seems Sony follows Nintendo and Microsoft in everything they do, they just copy and steal ideas from other companies. When Nintendo introduced the analogue stick and rumble pak on the N64 controller, Sony had to have sticks and rumble on their controller.

So I assume Microsoft has no sticks and rumble?

Nintendo put motion gaming on the map and Sony had to copy that. Nintendo had Smash Bros, Sony had to copy that with Allstars Battle Royale. Sony tried to mimic Xbox Live with Playstation Plus.

So PSN going pay for online confirmed?

Microsoft had Halo and Sony brought out that turd Killzone. Microsoft had a home button on the controller, Sony had to have that too.

WiiU has a home button too.

Microsoft and Sega had triggers on the controller first, and Sony copied that. "Sony is walking out of this gen loaded with games"? What loads of games are you talking about? Last I checked their weren't a whole lot of good games on PS3.

Quantity =/= Quality, that I agree though. But still more than Halo, Forza and Fable.

Sorry but that wall of text is too irritating to ignore. Looks like a fun battle to jump in.
