but how many games were there that were expected to pass .5M but didn't? as far as I've seen, pretty much every game has sold right about what was expected of it...i think thats more of a testament to the 3DS' fairly weak Western 3rd party software than anything

3DS isn't too impressive, but then again we all know Nintendo IPs sell themselves.
Vita is more disappointing then I thought.
Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

i have no comment to publishers expectations ... i don't know what publishers expected. all i know is if that is really the top 28 best selling 3rd party titles it isn't anything to brag about. sure, i kills the vita but that's a bit lack calling a 5 year old a world class boxer because he beat up an infant.. both are just different levels of weak.

I know this is a "my favorite videogame company is better than yours lol" bragging thread but it's kind of like rubbing in that you made a 50 on a test to someone who made a 20. Those numbers are bad all the way around. We know the Vita's problems, but the 3DS is selling a lot of hardware and has been out for well over a year. No wonder western developers are switching to the iOS and Android markets.

Well this theory that third parties do poorly on nintendo stems from western developers. Not developers as a whole.

This part of the story can only be definitively concluded when you compare the performance of 3rd parties on 3DS/Vita with the performance of those on say GameBoy.
Something I don't feel like doing right now

I'm starting to suspect this myself. Even if vita hardware picks up it won't be supported if the software sales don't show. People can call out 3ds for it having a much larger install base but the vita is aimed at the people who buy assassin's creed and call of duty. And they aren't outselling 3ds games. Sony systems are supposed to be safe to make games for because they don't have to worry about mario and friends. So much for theory.
