Don't compare necessities to luxuries. Food and clothing are NEEDS. Xbox live is a WANT. 

Gaming is a want.

Yes there you go. You said it better to include gaming as a whole. I ment to say video games are a want but he was trying to compare the need of food and clothing to the want of xbox live gold.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Given how that spurred Live Gold sales before Halo 3 from 2006-2007......your not qualified to make threads like this anymore lol.

I had a feeling it was someone from gears of war but just didn't want to say it without knowing for sure, and i cant be asred to do a google search because I hate gears of war lol. 

Edit - Not saying it's a bad game, but it's just not my cup of tea. Sort of like how I hate Resistance. The games feel to dark and brown for me and makes me depressed everytime I try to play lol.

I really hope they charge more for Live next gen. They could have three tiers. $99/year to play online, 149/year to access apps and $199/year all that plus new avatar items every month. That would be so cool. I hope they bring nice designer clothing for avatar and awesome shoes. 

If they introduced an online gaming only tier it would be uch cheaper tha that.... I paid $45 for mine currently. 

Well it is on sale today for $35 but that is not the point. What else do people do though. Aren't you paying for "superior" online infrastructure with no lag?

It gives us access to what we prefer.

Whether it be apps exclusive to the 360, software exclusive to the 360, and all the extras you can do on other platforms.

Now give it a rest.

Why so fiesty? Is that included in the subscription. It was a simple question.

OK. But there is a difference between willing to pay for something and eager to pay for something. Wouldn't everyone here rather LIVE be free? I understand it might not be as good if it was free, but wouldn't everyone prefer a free service? I'm not saying people shouldn't be proud of using Xbox LIVE; I'm saying I'm surprised people are so proud of paying for it.


It all goes back to people being perfectly ok with paying for a service if it meets a quality that warrants the price. People can agree that it's worth it or disagree. I wouldn't want a lesser quality service for free. I pay for Live simply because it is faster and more realiable and has more features than PSN. Taking those out for lesser quality to make it free like PSN, well then you're just left with two slower, disappointing services.

OK, fair enough. I've been a little too hard on Xbox LIVE subscribers in this thread. It's not fair of me to project my own feelings about the service onto others.

Necessities are not luxuries. A necessity is something that is essentially required in order to sustain survival. It's defined as "the fact of being required or indispensable", whereas a luxury is simply something you purchase because you have the money for it. I am 100% sure someone can live without paying for xbox live (want) but they won't be able to survive without things we take for granted such as food/water (need). Maybe you were brought up in a rich* family and you just think differently.

My point is we treat necessities like luxaries. If it was just about survival we would be fine with living on hand me down clothing and canned goods.

Keep arguing semantics but you get my point. We don't just pay for bare minumim, we often pay for what we prefer.

Since this thread isn't dead yet I have a real question for you.  What multiplayer games have you played and put a significant amount of time in?  And are you good?
