Yeah I think Bugs Bunny said it best with that one line. Sometimes the joy of doing something naughty is worth more then the punishment you will receive. Such is the case here, and while I admit to taking some joy in what I am about to unleash. That doesn't mean that what I am asking is without merit, and that it doesn't have any value for future discussions. You see I do intend to ask this question again in the future on a regular basis, because I think what we have here is a real golden opportunity to observe the demise of a brand in real time. That opportunity doesn't just come along every day, and it seems wasteful to not be polling the loyalists in advance of the event. I want to study their transition from one brand to another, or one state to another.

That said I have just a few requests for those who want to discuss the poll. Please don't troll this thread. There is nothing wrong with the question, and getting this thread locked is a pure dick move. If you have nothing meaningful to add to this discussion. Then don't post anything. I don't want to be attacked, and I do not want to see others getting attacked. Please don't manipulate the poll. If you're not a Sony loyalists or a PS3 owner. You don't have any reason to be voting. Lets not treat this like a game. Please don't wage a campaign of denial in this thread. If you don't think the question has any merit. Then don't respond to the thread. I have no inclination to discuss it with you, and I don't want you derailing this thread.

Now the question is pretty simple. If there isn't a new installment in the Playstation brand of consoles. Where will you predominantly spend your gaming time in the future. I think Sony has reached a tipping point where this is a very real possibilitiy. So we should seriously discuss what it means to current loyalists. With that in mind I have created five possibilities, and I will explain them below. Please pick the one you think best represents your thoughts and feelings. Seriously if you guys can't handle this. I will be the first to ask for it to be locked.

1. I will move to Microsofts brand of consoles. Pretty self explanatory.

2. I will move to Nintendos brand of consoles. Pretty self explanatory.

3. I will choose a third alternative. I will move to computer based gaming, mobile gaming, third party devices, or wait for a new player to enter the market.

4. I will become a Retro gaming loyalist. I will not be entering the new generation, and will continue to use my current device as my primary.

5. I B E L I E V E. I refuse to even acknowledge that this is even remotely possible, and I will never admit to any contingency planning on any mental level.

Interesting thread. I think they'll move to MS consoles because there isn't really much difference between them and Sony ones; moving to Nintendo consoles would be too drastic a change

A PS3-only owner would likely go Microsoft or PC.

A multi-console owning PS3 fan likely wouldn't change much at all.

I've been thinking about getting into PC gaming for a while. If Sony left the gaming business, then that would probably be the tipping point.

I've always been a PC/PS-gamer - if Sony drops out of the console business, I'll just stick with PC.

Well... I'd need to find a way to play JRPGs, since they rarely reach the PC.

With 24 votes we have a pretty interesting base line. With four for Microsoft, Four for Nintendo, Five for another, two for retro, and nine for faith. That is more balanced then I would have expected. I won't parse the numbers, but it should be real interesting moving forward. It will be interesting to see how things compare one, two, or even four months from now.

I went with "I will go with another alternative." because I'll go where the Sony franchises (games) go. IMO, their titles will most probable go to a Microsoft console. It seems Microsoft has a "better handle" on pushing hardware than Nintendo which I see could be an attraction for Sony. This could ultimately be a "I will game with Microsoft." decision, but I've been also wanting to customize a PC for gaming. So we'll see. But as I mentioned in another thread:

"...the PlayStation namebrand is one of the better things (if not one of their best) going for them. So for them to get out of the console market would be most improbable."

It just doesn't make any sense for Sony to give up PlayStation anytime soon.

And BTW, this thread is guaranteed for the Worst Title of the Year award.

I had no suspicion that Sony wouldn't make another console...
It didn't even cross my mind until now.

For sake of contributing to the thread...

If somehow the PS4 never came into existence I would go with PC gaming and miss the potential exclusives that could be made.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

A see results option is needed if you're not posting the votals.

Please define "pushing hardware", we are on a sales site after all, and Nintendo's current console is currently quite ahead of the competition by almost 50%.
