they're losing grounds , and fast, their idea of "release as much as possible to keep business going" is kind of pathetic really, I hope some day people will see it as what it is.

How could they achieve a speed increase without sacrificing battery life? There's no new ARM generation, 6 months isn't enough to improve a custom core, and there's no new process node (20nm not here yet for TSMC).

Based on one change in upgrade cycle versus the consistency they showed in the 15+ upgrade cycles that came before it (iPod, iPad, iPhone)?

Apple is not going to release a new phone less than six months into a product cycle. There is absolutely no reason to do it. The iPad was an aberration and, in all likelihood, was done to get all their products in a row for the holiday season, which is far and away their biggest quarter. The iPad 3 update was a "mini-update" and Apple probably wanted to get its launch away from its Q2 earning cycle and into the competitive holiday cycle.

If Apple is going to short-cycle any product they have on the shelves, it will be the iPad Mini. That thing is woefully outdated and underpowered for its price point.

Apple has four core iOS products that they update once a year. The only aberration in this 6+ year trend has been the iPad 4, which released 7 months after the iPad 3.

Yeah, they're really milking the customers for all they've got. I mean, if only they made 15 different phones and 5 different tablets like Samsung... Obviously, that's the model they should emulate if they want to "keep business going".

So, what's pathetic again? Your Apple hate? Yeah, thought so.
