that is crazy, from what I understand this pretty much means that they can't be lent money now from banks well... sane banks isn't it? So Sony has it's own assets basically and what KazHira can find down the back of the Sony Couches to fix up all the leaks of money from within Sony, I hope they can sort themselves out but with LG knocking the hell outta them in the TV area and Nintendo/Xbox being the word consumers use to talk about video games now it's hard times ahead.

I don't think Sony will ever be on "top" again. Japan in generally just isn't the player they used to be, they can't compete with Chinese/Korean companies that can undercut them on labor costs.

Japan's dominance of the electronics sector was largely due to the fact that China was so far behind technologically in the 1950s-80s and kept consumer manufacturing to controlled levels before letting it explode in the 1990s.

You look at Sony, Sharp, Panasonic, etc. today, they're all in big trouble. Of the three though I think Sony is the best bet to bounce back to some form of positivity though, but I would research their stock quite a bit. It may be more beneficial to buy bonds from them rather than their stock.

Just abandon ship and focus on entertainment Sony! You got Playstation, Sony pictures and Sony Music. Isn't that enough?

while samsung is listed in the OP LG are another Korean appliance manufacturer who are taking a massive chunk out of what used to be Sony's pie.

Their gaming area is actually one place Sony is making some bit of cash at least, the issue is they are taking that cash and pumping it into new ventures like 4k resolution tvs for $25k

I'm starting to wonder if PS4 isn't launching next year.

The talk about a casual model XBox + next-gen model both seem to hint at a next year release for MS.

They should leave the TV and gaming business and focus on smartphones, Sony music, Sony pictures, cameras (with Olympus) and laptops/tablets (I'm probably forgetting something...)
