Yes, I think xbox and Wii have shape this gen more than PS3 because - afaik - PS3 didn't bring anything that the other 2 hadn't up to that point. And I haven't decided yet which to vote for.

BluRay,3D and such an amazing increase in terms of console graphics.Leaping so hard away from everyone else(except PC) and showing how much you can do with such garbage hardware is amazing.The Cell is insane as long as you have developers like Naughty Dog and co working with it.And next year there is still a lot to come with The Last of Us,new God of War and games like Beyond Two Souls.
Another big part - While everything in this Gen shifted to Shooters Sony still managed it to create a lot of new IPs that were unique.They did invest in a lot of games that are considered not cool enough cause they have no guns and bald Army Soldiers.They had a good hand to create and bring games for adults that also like a good story in their games.
Free Online is nice too and PSN+ is for around 1 year now the best Console Online Service around.

The 360 did not much.
As said achievments aka Trophies were on the PS2.
DVD was done by Sony 10 years or so  ago - Paying for Online is the worst thing ever.Gladly you can get 1 year gold for half the price on ebay otherwise i never would have supported this.
Kinect?Only used for good things from PC Nerds - Promised things from Microsoft themself never happened...A complete lie...."Leap" is much better than Kinect and would deserve 20 Million Sales.

Wii brought good motion controls as the 1st one.Had interesting games for it that worked.Would be lame if not cause their whole console was built on it and the other 2 got it as an addition.
Opened the market for "Casuals" in a different way - Didn't try to define and destroy a whole scene with Call of Duty and Copy+paste shooters.
Nintendo did a good job in dividing 2 "scenes" without destroying and influencing everything else in a bad way.

So Sony wins.

OK, I admit I laughed.  Still, it's pretty clear he's only doing this to cause a reaction, so let him play his games.  After all, he might have a perfectly valid reason to hold feelings of resentment and anger toward an electronic device.

I don't think Wii motion controls shaped the 7th gen like Online gaming has. Online was basically and still is the "IT" thing in gaming. Nobody really went crazy over motion controls and MS and Sony just pretty much jumped on the wagon to gain a bit of that motion control market that Nintendo struck gold with

The achievements on PS2 didn't carry over to anything else besides your save file so I would still give it to the 360.

I dunno really. Wii brought motion controls and arguably revolutionized the industry. Objectively, I suppose that has shaped the past gen more than anything else. Personally they haven't revolutionized anything for me - I haven't been a fan of motion controls, had no desire to try out Sony's offering and aside a brief stint with Wii Sports when it was first released, haven't really indulged them at all.  I feel like it was a bit of a storm in a teacup - great, then it blew over.

Xbox 360 I can barely comment on, I only owned one for about 3 months around 2009 while my friend was abroad and he lent it to me. It was fine, I hear that the online was revolutionary and again I suppose, objectively that is true, but again I didn't really see any of it.

I could argue a point that PS3 shaped the gen the most by saying things like: the huge variety of software created showcasing the versatility of the system - I won't get into listing but suffice to say I believe there's something for everyone on the system which is a future that all 3 console makers are going to be moving towards. In terms of hardware, features, again there's a broad spread. The online service, while not being the first example, proving a good service can be provided for free. PS+ being a successful digital-only subscription service. Day one digital downloads becoming more and more common. A large list of previous-gen titles being available on multiple platforms for one purchase. Stuff like that.

In the end, all of them and none of them really. I voted PS3 just because I wanted to see the results and Danne is getting antsy about it which is slightly amusing :P

But really, you might want to edit the OP & take up the other two console voters about their posts. Plenty of people just saying "Wii & 360" getting a free pass!

just to add a quick thought why people might think the PS3 shaped this gen the most:

had it not released with the current specs and at that price, there is a high chance this generation would have played out very differently

I voted for Wii but I keep seeing give reasons why ps3 changed this gen and how. Obviously blue ray the ability to store more data on a single disc is very underated.The graphics, the games on ps3 uncharted, god of war, gran turismo, infamous, killzone 2 and 3. Uncharted is epic with everything that game does it changed the game of how to make a game feel like a movie experience. God of war 3 the graphics and detailing unmatched. Killzone 2 and 3 the graphics are insane and won awards to back up my claim. Infamous this game changed the idea of what you can do with an open world and used very unique ways for gamers to play, it destroyed the competitor prototype easily. I could go on and on with games and reasons why but PS3 games and the quality are good reasons to pcik ps3. If you bought a PS3 and have alot of the exclusives you know what I am talking about. The PS3 exclusives are truly ballsy games no there not safe titles that sell millions upon millions but they push gaming into new directions. I think PS3 haters forget that PS3 evolves gaming in many ways with sony taking chances on new IP's. Maybe the IP's fail but sony has balls example Starhawk this game is great but has not sold there is no game like it on the marker and I challenge anyone on this sight to point out an example of a build and battle multiplayer 3rd person shooter with great graphics and fun gameplay. Sony only fails in marketing in my view they get s F- for marketing.
