Forums - Sony - My opinion of Black Ops: Declassified as a Sony Fanboy

Okay. Where to start....

I love my Ps3. It's an amazing console that creates amazing gaming experiences. With that said, Sony has made it clear this generation that they are 2 or 3 steps behind Nintendo when it comes to handhelds.

As for the Vita and the newly released Black ops declassifed, what exactly was Sony thinking??? They have to be aware that a game with almost no publicity, the core gamers WILL wait for the reviews to come out. Critics are currently bombing it, and honestly, I could not be any happier. Sony clearly made a mistake. Two mistakes actually. Letting Nihilstic develop the game, and rushing them to hit the Black ops 2 release.

I don't have a Vita, but I'm a huge supporter of it. When done right, this console has a lot to offer. Obviously, all Sony did with Declassifed is prove to us that they think the Vita will sell purely on hardware and big names of software, not quality software.

Very disapointed in Sony for this. It hurts their image great image.

Thoughts???

While I'm not buying the game and I'm a Playstation home system fan.. I think Sony shouldn't be bundling this game like crazy. It isn't going to be a system seller. Why Activision and Sony gave this game to such a bad developer is beyond me. Who owns this developer btw?

Hopefully this steaming pile and the tepid reception to Assassin's Creed: Liberation will once and for all disabuse Sony of the notion that dumbed down versions of console games are the way to go for the Vita. Probably not, though.

I saw some gameplay, and it actually looked pretty solid - I haven't played it personally, but are you all sure it's as bad as these reviews are making out?

I would say Sony needs dumbed down versions that are unique and fun for the vita... Sony and developers are missing the unique and just going for simpler games.

I'm really confused here.  I keep reading about Sony letting Nihilistic develop the game.  Did Sony have a say in that?  It's an Activsion game, right?

If someone has a source that explains this, I'd be thankful for sharing.

If you're saying they should have made a Call of Duty branded strategy RPG instead of this... thing, I totally agree.

One word, money. This game ain't great but it was super cheap to make and is being sold for $50. This hurts the image but in the short term helps Sony have a profit this quarter.

yeah, anything to differentiate itself from it's consoles counter part. I believe the Vita can have "console quality" handheld games. The developers just need to be creative with the franchises instead of trying to offer the same experience as consoles... because that will never work.

Developers are taking console quality to mean dumbed down versions of console games. What they should be taking it as is highly polished fun handheld games

Nobody owns this developer and they are restructuring at the moment. Nihilistic will call themselves Nstigate or something from now on and focus on development of mobile games.

I think what happened is that Sony absolutely wanted a CoD game for the Vita, but Activision wasn't making one despite announcing support for the Vita back then when it was still called NGP. There was no CoD game in the works and once Sony noticed, they probably offered to fund one themselves, because they were in desparate need for big games. Nihilistic was assigned with the project, because they already had dev kits and experience with the Vita (they made Resistance: Burning Skies), but the catch was that they had less than half a year to develop the game. The result is the barebones game we see today, because it was the only feasible option for Sony to have a CoD title this year.
