Why does it matter which one is the lead platform? Getting the same game regardless.

No, just not interesting enough. I don't think a story can be to long if it is good enough. 

As for GTAV, I am ready to sink some major hours into this. 

If no Wii U version is true this is a bad sign for being able to buy a Wii U but not miss out on the 'HD exclusives' like this gen.

I wouldn't understand Rockstar's decision here because it would at least sell another million on Wii U and that's surely enough to fund a port, even by an external team if necessary.

Compare that to any other sandbox game. Saints Row 3 and Sleeping Dogs have about 30 missions each, Assassins Creed games about 50.

Lead platform? what? I don't think I've ever heard of this term. I would think the publishers wouldn't want to take too much bias.

Biggest news to come out of this is no Wii U version, not just at launch but at all. This is a killer for Nintendo who's trying to recapture the core market (though they're not trying very hard IMO).

So far no Bioshock Infinite, no Dead Space 3, no GTAV, Metro Last Light was shown in the E3 mashup of "core" games but that's still questionable. Other than Aliens: Colonial Marines, what the heck do core gamers have to look forward to on the Wii U for the next 6 months or so?
