I don't see why PS3 can't keep the playstation tradition going and reach 100 million units eventually. It only needs 30 million now.

to give this more standing the ps2 has sold near 50 million since the ps3 launch.  The ps3 should be able to ship about 5 million more this quarter which would mean it only needs to do 50% of what ps2 did in its last 6 years of life. I say its very possible.

Especially, since i expect PS3 to last at least 3 years after PS4 comes out, it will. But I doubt PSP will ever reach 100 million though

How many units do you think the PSP will have sold when it's all said and done?

It's currently on 75 million but sales are very slow for it now, especially with the vita out. I think it will stop around 90 million but it could reach 100 million depending on how well it continues to sell in developing markets like India, China, Africa etc. We'll see...

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Over a year ago Sony shipped 71.4 million units. Add Q3 and 4 to those numbers of that year and its at 74.7. It's still missing some of septembers numbers. Also PSP + Vita did 2.8 and 3.5 million Q1 and 2 this year. A lot of people are saying vita hasnt even shipped 3 million yet from a german sony rep. And it doesn't have any shiped figures from this quarter. I think they are closer to 80 million right now. However, I still think they will barely cross 90mil.

Dont know about the rest of the 70 million, but this guy

Has convinced a lot of my friends XD

So current confirmed numbers -

Wii - 97 Million
PS3 - 70 Million
360 - 70 Million

Pretty sweet. All will be in the 90-105 Million range by the end of the generation.

How long do you expect the generation to continue?

At least another 2 Years. Can see the PS3 and 360 lastimg another Year after successors.

And you think the PS3 and 360 are going to shift an average of 12 million or so over the next three years?

on every site i've been it says that it sold 70m,and on wikipedia ps3 is ahead of 360 in sales now and i believe that i don't trust VGChartz anymore because there are a lot of undertracked ps3 games here which is ridiculous lol!

No. Im thinking another 2 Years of meaningful sales.

Im guessing both PS3 and 360 will be sitting at or around 75 Million shipped by January. That would leave 20-35 Million over the next 2 meaningful Years and dwindling Years after.

Pricecuts to counter WiiU will keep sales steady next Year until X3/PS4 (If they do indeed release next Year). Both should be easily hitting 10 Million units. Software next Year looks pretty good, while '12 was honestly rubbish.

Worst case scenario, IMO, for 2013 would be 10 Million each. Would leave them at ~85 Million. 5-20 Million after that, Id have thought would be easily attainable.

Both will have great legs. Support will continue to be there. The 360 will become the cheap "go to" console much like PS2 did in NA for the new generation. PS3 will continue to do well in emerging markets and Europe.

PS2 sold well due to getting huge sales in South America, Africa, Asia and Middle East.
