Vita does deserve even better. Its unfortunate that 3DS outsold it by such a huge margin in Japan. and even DS outsells it in the US.

I also have  a hard time believing HALO did this much for 360, and the 500GB AC III ps3 slim bundle did almost nothing to boost ps3 sales last week..

Did they adjust october's numbers? If they didn't, we should take these numbers with more than a grain of salt.

NPD aren't facts either though, they're estimates too and are frequently out also.  I think we are overtracking in the US but undertracking Europe and others so it's balancing out which is why the figures compared to shipped numbers look fine.  Lets not forget that we still have the PS3 has winner (although statictically tied) last year on this site when Microsoft PR stated they won and Sony didn't dispute the claim.  I'd take that information much more as gospel but the adjustments that happened never showed this did they.  Long term the figures balance out but if you don't want to discuss estimates (because they aren't facts) then why visit here?

All the above being said, you're right that our tracking has looked pretty poor for the last 12 months or so imo.  I don't think our models have tracked the decline in demand properly which is a lot harder to predict than steady growth like the Wii, 360 and PS3 had for a few years.

Live with what? And adjustments will more than likely be made considering the results of last NPD.. either way.. if this site wants to gain more credibility..

Look it up kowenicki.. there are people in this thread basically saying these numbers aren't completely trust worthy..

and shipments are shipments.. as long as there are consoles on shelves with shipped figures.. you cannot say anything is over tracked.. since you don't know how many consoles are on shelves.. all you/anyone can do is give a logical estimate..

Yes, NPD are estimates as well, but they are much more reliable than VGC since they cover a much larger amount of retailers and now have access to Walmart as well. Just because I have been here for 5 years does not mean I have to accept these numbers are valid, especially when they have yet to do adjustments for Vita, PS3 and 360 with recently released numbers.

I also visit here because this site isn't just sales. These numbers are meant to be as an indicator of how the market might be reacting, not as truth, especially when NPD showed last month that we overtracked PS3 and 360 by nearly 100k or so each. That's a BIG discrepancy.

I am mearly saying that everyone should take a wait and see approach with these holiday figures. The true numbers will come out, they always do. Nintendo gives us EU numbers, Media Create and Famitsu give us JPN numbers and NPD provides the most reliable US numbers. This is just how it is.

Guys, you've made your point about the validity of VGChartz numbers. Time to move on and focus on the numbers at hand.
