Forums - Sony - IGN: Where Is the Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Review?

The problem is people seem to have this idea that the PSV is a portable PS3. The fact you have cross buy games and the ads claiming its console gaming on the go isn't helping. My brother was quite disappointed when he saw how small in scope Liberation was compared to AC3. Still, I believe the Vita can output console quality as LBP Vita is arguably the best entry in the series and is very nice to look at and BlazBlue and SFxT were excellent 1:1 ports managing to hit a consistent 60fps.

I think it's fair to compare PSV games to PS3 games. The major difference between portable gaming and console gaming shouldn't be in the amount of content, but in the presentation of the content. If Sony thinks that their console being a graphical powerhouse of a portable with dual analog sticks is what makes it able to provide "console gaming on the go," then they're missing the point of console gaming. That whole selling point should've been put to rest the first time someone mentioned A Link to the Past for GBA, a bonafide console game "on the go."

Vita games don't have to compete graphically with their console counterparts, but they should be able to compete in content. One of the reasons LBP Vita has been so critically acclaimed is because it offers an astounding amount of content, not "for a portable," but in general. Vita is not alone in being kept to this standard. Mario Kart 7 was criticized for having less content than the Wii iteration.

A great example of what I'm trying to articulate is Kid Icarus: Uprising. The game packed in loads of content, as much as you'd expect from a console action game and then some, and then some more, and then a LOT more. But the game presents most of its content in an episodic format, perfect for short sessions, befitting a portable game. It's not "console gaming on the go," but it is held to the same standards as console games in many ways.

So basically, the developers of games like ACL should strive to load it up with as much content as a console game. The graphics should take a back seat to the content, not the other way around. Customers are paying almost the same price, after all; they have a right to expect the game to last.

MK7 was better received than MK Wii so I'm not too sure what your point was there, also the point of console gaming isn't purely content, Vanquish is one of the best TPS games I have played all gen and it's ultimately a 4 hour game. A good portion of the appeal of a console game are the production values through the presentation and graphics, and of course the complexity of the gameplay that can only be experienced with a gamepad. The Vita is aiming for just that, but a lot of the devs are falling flat. Handhelds have always had games brimming with content, as their libraries are full of JRPGs but I still wouldn't put those games on par with their respective generation of consoles. There are always exceptions of course such as Disgaea for example.

I agree the devs of ACL should have improved the game, but what is the point of more content if the core game is flawed? A good example would be Resident Evil 6 with its 20 hour campaign, which many struggled to find any sort of willingness to complete due to the complaints with the gameplay.

Hi guys, I run the website www.thegamescabin.com and I personally reviewed the game and gave it it's final score of 4/10.

It wasn't a hate campaign by me, just an honest review. I, like so many others, wanted Call of Duty on the Vita to be great, good would have sufficed, but great would have been better.

Also, the term "Vita hater" is being thrown our way, unjustly I should add. I personally got the Vita on the day it came out and I haven't looked back, best day one purchase I've ever made. It's a great little machine that I hope continues to gather a bigger following and maybe then we will get a Call of Duty the Vita deserves.

Just my two cents guys!

I don't think anyone here is disagreeing with the reviews we've seen (or at least that's not the feeling I'm getting). I think many of us (on this specific forum anyway) are just disappointed that the Vita, probably the best hand-held console ever made, looks to be slowly going the way of the Atari Lynx because of poor marketing, poor choices and lacklustre title development.

I couldn't agree more, the PS Vita is a remarkable gaming machine. Hopefully with the slew of new games coming in the new year and some bundle offers this Christmas the Vita can pick up some momentum and convice publishers and developers that the Vita is a worthy platform that should be taken seriously. So far the only developer that has shown up the rest is Criterion, as well as doing the console Need for Speed they went out of their way to make sure they could do the Vita version so that it's of a high enough quality.

Much better than pocketgamers one

Not surprised really; I don't think anyone else is either.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Ouch. ACL is a 70 and COD looks like itll be even worse. Not the system sellers Vita needed after all. Shame.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I'm disagreeing with reviews. Burning skies was fun and most people agree COD has a much better multiplayer. That alone should get this game to at least a 5/10. Sure COD costs more but that is not something a review should focus their score on.

A 10 in metacritic?

Wow... this is gonna hurt the score.
