Hint for my 39th is:

A journey of two "musical" animals.

As guessed by TruckOsaurus;

40. Tekken 3 (PS1)

This game perfected the fighing mechanics in Tekken 1 & 2, mechanics that haven't changed a whole lot since. All the Tekken games since have replicated the mechanics of Tekken 3 only adding small evolutions to a brilliant game.

Is it 50-1 or 1-50? I have an answer for each, but I need to know for sure first.

50-1, so counting down.

We are now at 40/39, depending on your timezone.

40. Metroid Prime 2, GC (2004) Nintendo/Retro Studios (last year 38)
The worst of the three main Prime games, but that still gets it up to number 40. I found the enemies and scenario were less believable than in Prime 1 and 3, which de-immersed me from the experience, but the core gameplay that made that series so great is still there. The original version also was quite unbalanced in terms of difficulty, though this was rectified in the Trilogy edition.

Number 39 is a recent game, whose name was changed midway through development to reflect its developer's legacy, although the game itself is unrelated to the developer's prior work.

Sleeping Dogs?

Clue for No. 39:

This game featured this taunt: "Did I mention, that I'm a GOD now!"

Loved the N64 games. The first one was my most replayed game on the console .

Sleeping Dogs?

Possibly. Was that originally supposed to be a Kane and Lynch?

The real answer is Xenoblade

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Ahhh, good choice. Just missed out on my list as I've yet to complete it.

Sleeping Dogs was originally going to be a True Crime game/reboot, but Activision cancelled it and SE published it (but without the rights to True Crime it got renamed).

My #40 is so incredibly easy to guess. Somebody, anybody guess it.

You said Vita, but that doesn't really help.

How does that not help? I guess it's some extra work, but I link to my game collection in my signature. Only beaten 2 or 3 vita games. Should be an easy give away (especially considering there's only really been two Vita games that you could probably attach this onto).

Gravity Rush

Correct. Favorite Vita game for sure.

40. Gravity Rush (Playstation Vita)

While it wasn't perfect, it did a lot of things right. You have this thiriving world where you seamlessly explored, fought, and morphed gravity. The fact that you were able to bend gravity without major problems (camera issues or becoming disoriented) was a shock. It was a intregral game mechanic and not a gimmick. It was made a even better experience with a very charming main character, beautiful graphics, and a very fitting soundtrack (composed by the same guy who did Gunbuster/Diebuster). A must have for all Vita owners.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."
