Non issue

Tell that to people without internet, without pretending everyone is online nowdays,

If you have the money to buy a Wii U, then you must have some form of internet connection, even if it is really bad.

I said without pretending.  A baseless statement is pretending.

Why pretend if it's pretty much a given that any person around the world who buys a Wii U will have an internet connection? Video games are an expensive hobby, and like I said if you have the money to buy a next gen system you must have an internet connection, imo it's common sense.

MS, Sony, and Nintendo disagree with you. If so many people had their consoles connected to the internet their would be no need for on disc system updates such as all three have. Many people (in the US) do not have great internet access. Those living in the mountians, and those in the more open and spread out midwest states do not. Europe is probably better off as they have a better network set up for the internet, but the US (possibly the biggest and most important market) does not have an awesome backbone for internet through out the whole country.

The real issue here is this: what if I'm buying a Wii U just to play Gamecube games? There is NO option for gammers like me!

Why does nintendo hate the cube so much!

This is totally unacceptable. Can you imagine what would happen if there was a version of the PS3 that didn't play PS2 games? If there were a 360 that didn't pllay all Xbox 1 games!? What the fuck, Nintendo? And I don't want to hear about any of this "go online" crap. The Wii U should let everybody access ALL features offline. I want Youtube, voice chat, downloadable titles, and online play available offline. If Nintendo can't provide all of this then fuck 'em. I' waiting for an unannounced system to come out. It will surely offer everything Nintendo's console won't. I'm ppositive of this.

I understand that point of view, but keep in mind that those people who live on the mountains won't be interested in a Wii U (or any other console for that matter). And if they are interested in one I'm pretty sure those will be an extreme minority. Also, if they were interested in a console it was probably the Wii and I don't see those people wanting to upgrade (at least not yet).

Like I said, MS, Sony, and Nintendo disagree with you. If they were such a minority there would be no need for system updates on disk as people would get them through the internet. But they are there. Other stats back up this claim. I think something like a third of all xboxes have not been connected to the internet. In fact this is the first gen that inernet has been present and used on all gaming sytems available.

Not being connected to the internet doesn't mean those people don't have any form of internet connection in their homes. This is from 2010, couldn't find any newer articles, so the numbers may vary.

Imo the reason why the 360 doesn't have as many people connected to the internet as the PS3 (as mentioned in the article) is because you have to pay for online (I know a couple of friends who have a 360 but aren't sign up to xbox live for that very reason).

I think the main reason why the system updates are on disk is to avoid downloading it and then install it, it's still annoying to install them but at least you don't have to download the updates, so it's a "less tedious" work, so it's not necessarily because those people don't have internet. This is speculation though, I could be wrong.

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

If the update is on any Wii U game disc including the one which comes with the console, I don't see a problem. If not, this is nintendo giving a finger to a lot of gamers.
