Were any of those devices before the Ipad marketed to the consumer? Aren't there still devices that look like that for on field professional use?

i don't think widescreen is on every laptop nowadays because of apple, it's just like with the tv market, it was the time for widescreen and with or without apple i think it would be like today.

but smartphone and especially tablet market did profit a lot when apple started to sell them.

with that said, i don't think we always have to thank apple even years later as much as i don't thank mercedes benz and ford for my car nowadays or the first company making ssd popular for the pc
