@jimreilly EA: "The Medal of Honor Warfighter launch is below our expectations." uh oh

@jimreilly: Battlefield 3 has shipped 17 million copies to date.

Didn't EA themelves say in a press release that Battlefield is on its way to becoming a Billion Dollar annual franchise? Wouldn't they need to kill Medal of Honor in order to do that? Looks like this latest MoH just gave them an excuse to finally pull the plug.

As expected Fifa is undertracked here. 4m PS3 3m 360 and rest of 400k between other platforms.

It's not necessarily undertracked here; they've included iOS sales in their 7.4m figure.

No, they didn't. Read the press release over here http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/30/fifa-13-sells-74-million-copies-in-4-weeks?abthid=5090372c60b1d4a47800007c

EA has revealed that 7.4 million copies of FIFA 13 were sold in the four weeks following its launch. According to EA, the figure excludes mobile downloads and gives FIFA 13 the “biggest sports launch of all-time.” EA reports that, along with Madden, FIFA "debuted as one of the two top-selling titles in September in the Western World."

Oh god, please no. I could never handle seeing Battlefield turned into a yearly series. :( First of all, it would require a second developer to alternate yearly releases with, which is just a big no-no considering that DICE are the only ones who truly understand what makes the Battlefield experience so great.

Please EA, don't.

BF3 17m.

Thats close to Cod numbers!

Not really. Modern Warfare 3 is at 29.22 million on all consoles combined according to Vgchartz.

If you count only Ps3/360 its still ~27million. Almost double. And we're counting sold here, EA is counting shipped.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/10/30/battlefield-3-premium-passes-2-million-subscribers

"Coupled with today’s announcement that FIFA sales have crossed 7.4 million, EA president Frank Gibeau commented that “On the strength of our digital extensions, FIFA and Battlefield are the two biggest revenue events in our company’s history. Both are well on their way to becoming billion dollar annual franchises.

Battlefield and MoH are like EA's Call of Duty. They take it in turns releasing new games bi-yearly (like Treyarch and Infinity Ward do for CoD)

I said this premium was a great idea and im happy to be proven right by those numbers which are far higher than i vouldve anticipated.
