What would a Naughty Dog Xbox 360 game look like? Or a 343 Ps3 title look like?

I think they would all look the same. If the same money, talent and resources were put into a Xbox 360 Uncharted 1,2 or 3 the game would look the same. A PS3 Halo 4 by 343i would look identicle.
People argue about the differences between PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware, but the truth is that those differences are tiny. The machines have the same capabilities. Sure there are some pros and cons, but they even out.

Naughty Dog needed the truckloads of cash from Sony to create Uncharted 2 and 3 and the upcoming Last of Us. Without the money for R&D, Naughty Dog would have done what most developers do, use Unreal Engine. Nuaghty Dog is talented, no doubt about it, but other developers have tons of talent too. The difference is Sony needed Naughty Dog to hit a home run with Uncharted 2. Sony needed Uncharted 2 to look better than everything else at the time. Sony was willing to pay what ever it takes to get that. Naughty Dog pulled it off thanks to that money. Most publishers are willing to have good enough graphics instead of paying for outstanding graphics. |
Last of US is running on the same engine as Uncharted. Naughty Dog is experimental much like a lot of Sonys developers. Sony trusts a lot of their developers with large projects. Not saying that Sonys money is a push over but if Sony ever gave their top two devs Halo development level money a game beyond anything they have now would be created. Uncharted is definitely way cheaper to make which is a testament to how great Naughty Dog truly is. Halo is the one game Microsoft truly depends on, so they bath that game in dollars.

343 consists of a lot of former Sony and Naughty Dog talent whom have been working on Halo. Notice the difference?

Play Outland, its outstanding. Trust me, Deadlight will be an afterthought after that and Shadow Complex.

I didn't know that thanks!
I remember being wowed by Way of the Warrior on 3do. Game had incredible graphics for 1994.

| Zappykins said: Nobody has said it yet, but I thought Halo: Reach has some pretty great details - and used it graphics well. You could see aliens flying in the distance - but if you get to close they will attack you. Plus the lighting from you energy pulses in the weapons and such. It was great. (Halo Anniversary uses the same engine.) Course I think Halo 4 will be even better. But at the time, way back two whole years ago, it was quite good. |
Bungie has never pushed Halo to its limit in either graphics or story.

Halo 2 came pretty close to the limits of the original Xbox.

That's very true and why I'm so excited for Halo 4. As a fan of Halo it was always frustrating that we had to go to other media to flesh out the incredible Halo universe. The games should be the flagship of the franchise in every way. From what I've seen 343i has put the kind of polish I've always wanted to see on Halo and they seem to really understand how to tell a story.
