Forums - Microsoft - Best looking Xbox 360 game?

From the videos I've seen, Forza Horizon and Halo 4 appear to be the cream of the crop. Of the games I've played, I'll have to go with Gears of War 3. I haven't played it in a while but I was truly impressed with it. I'll give it another go whenever I finish my playthrough of Gears 2 (which has been put on hold for a couple of weeks while I finish RE6).

I remember seeing Tomb Raider at E3 and thinking that it was the best looking game, ever. I watched the trailer downloaded from Xbox Live and now I can spot graphical flaws (nothing game breaking). Just shows that the target is constantly moving. What looks good today can easily fail to impress tomorrow--even before a game is completed.

To be honest theres not alot of difference in the best the PS3 has and the best the 360 has done so far.

1 thing though is it is a shame Microsoft didnt have their first party teams push the 360 like the first party pushed the ps3.

Te first real games to push the 360 were using 3rd party engines. Crysis 1, Crysis 2 and Gears Of War 3 for example. Alan Wake also had some great visual moments especially with the lighting and the weather effects.

So far I have to say Forza Horizon is not only the best visuals on 360 but the best visuals in its racing field bar none on any console.

Also from what Ive seen of the first 20 mins of Halo 4 that looks like it will be the 360's best visuals by some way. Possibly best on console. But I dont want to turn this into that thread here on VGC. It only ends with an invasion of the Microsoft forums.

I think the reason why Sony spent so much money on graphics this gen is because they had to. MS felt no pressure to push graphics, but Sony had to justify the PS3 to potential buyers. Halo 4 could be the most expensive Xbox 360 game MS has evern funded and I'd be willing to bet that it doesn't even come close to what Sony spent pushing their in house devs to get  as much as they could out of the PS3. If MS had to they could have pushed and gotten the small bump that games like Uncharted 2,3, Killzone 2,3, etc. benefited from. But MS didn't need to.

Well, I have yet to play Halo 4... But from what I've played I think Gears 3 is the best looking. Witcher 2 looks really great too as does Rayman Origins.

The Witcher 2 looks like utter shit on the 360. I was happy just to play it on the 360 though.

It had some rough spots but it was far from looking like shit. Did you have it installed on a HDD?

Yep, it was definitely not even medium level PC grade graphics.

You have to have a Naughty Dog to have an Uncharted, luckily for Microsoft thats the company they are scouting for 343.

I can understand you saying it looked shit if you're comparing it to the PC version, but shit by 360 standards?

Let me get this straight. If it doesn't look as good on a 6 year old machine as a top of the line PC then it looks like shit?

Why not judge it against other Xbox 360  games instead of high end PC graphics that the Xbox 360 can't do. The Witcher looks pretty damn good on Xbox 360 when compared to other Xbox 360 games.

Is your girlfriend ugly because she isn't Jessica Alba or is she pretty because she is who she is?

Judge things by what they are not what they aren't.

Ok....I've seen games made for consoles that are better looking than that port and I have a 1080p LED Samsung. Its nothing to argue about, I loved the game.

Naughty Dog needed the truckloads of cash from Sony to create Uncharted 2 and 3 and the upcoming Last of Us. Without the money for R&D, Naughty Dog would have done what most developers do, use Unreal Engine. Nuaghty Dog is talented, no doubt about it, but other developers have tons of talent too. The difference is Sony needed Naughty Dog to hit a home run with Uncharted 2. Sony needed Uncharted 2 to look better than everything else at the time. Sony was willing to pay what ever it takes to get that. Naughty Dog pulled it off thanks to that money. Most publishers are willing to have good enough graphics instead of paying for outstanding graphics.

Yeah I agree, there are better looking console games than Witcher 2. But I think it still looks impressive. Think we will ever get a console port of the first one? Seems like they could use the Witcher 2 engine to port the first one and end up with a nice upgrade. It always bothers me when a sequel comes out on a system that didn't get the previous installment. Just a pet peeve of mine.
