Still very little action with Desmond. This is bull and I am on sequence nine now. This makes two trips.

Well this seems to have become the AC3 discussion thread, so:
-Connor is wooden and I don't like him at all.
-Do you support the revolutionaries or are you just using them? Make up your damned mind already.
-On the other hand, I have a newfound respect for Shaun, and William seems like a nice guy, if a little too intense.
-Achilles is great.
-Haytham was cool. I miss Haytham.
-The combat is largely the same as before, except even simpler, because apparently it wasn't easy enough already.
-Why can't I grab ledges when I'm falling?
-I do like how it's more difficult to use firearms now with the long reload times.
-Boston is completely empty. Seriously. Florence, Venice, Rome and Constantinople all had shops on every street corner. Tailors, blacksmiths, doctors. Boston has like three general stores and nothing else.
-Climbing now involves no skill at all since everything is automated. Climbing trees is really cool, though, and running between them is even better,
-Mail delivery is the worst filler I have ever seen.
-Recruiting assassins actually requires some effort now. Nice.
-Horses are back!
-I love the naval missions and Fort Wolcott especially. The other forts are pretty lame because you can just run in and gung-ho the entire thing.
Better than AC1, better than Revelations, not as good as AC2 or Brotherhood. On the whole, I'm a little bit disappointed, and it's about an 8.5 for me so far.

I just run from the main story to the next. Now that there is none.. I just dont know what I should do. Like.... I cant manage a house/city.. right? Can you even buy other weapons? (LOL). No really, am I being stupid or is the game just lacking in replay value? I have like 9000 £, what to do with em? |
You could manage the homestead, but that's extremely dull.
Go buy upgrades for your ship and do naval missions. Those are by far the best part of the game, IMO.

That's how we are different. I never play AC games like that, so I'm sure I will enjoy it more than you did. |
Its funny you say that because I generally dont run from story to story. This just so happenes to be the first AC game that forced me down that path until I could care less for anything else. I thought reviewers were bitching, but i've found it pointless to go to any stores, do side quests or anything. When the game should've endeared us to exploring the outdoors it kept us on such a linear leash for hours that we become accustomed to it. Regardless, its still my favorite AC...so far.

Its funny that you say the combat is simpler, because it's become more complex. It forces you to think on your feet even though it isnt exactly that challenging. You have a way to fight for specific tiers of guards. level one guards are easy to just hack n slash. Commanders must be parried and then attacked. Larger attackers who generally reverse straight forward attacks must be parried and in the midst of that parry connect to a throw and then attack when their back is facing you. Either that or I take the rifle of those I kill and just shoot them quickly.
The weather system in this game is no better or worse than that of Red Dead Redemption. Ubisoft was acting like they started something new. Marketing, I tell you. This game kind of feels like a hybrid between the two.

It would be great to have a pro/con list like this from someone who isn't british and therefore isn't completely biased against the game...

Pah, if they gave me some sort of reason to like the Patriots at all, I would have no problem with it. I've always admired the founding fathers, and my admiration is fading a little bit now.
