Forums - Gaming - Assassin's Creed III reviews in - no GOTY material here

I have played about 2 hours and am almost finished with sequence 2 and I am in love with the game. It is a bit slow to begin with but I think its still great and is way better than brotherhood and revelations. Its just as good as AC2 too, IMO. I would give it a solid 9 so far and I haven't ran into any bugs at all as of yet.

Sounds promising. I like games that start out slow and I like to take my time with each Assassin's Creed game, usually putting up to 40 hours into each one of them.

Red Dead Redemption started very slow too and that's an absolute masterpiece.

Any 90+ game can be nominated for GOTY. Your the first person to say such a thing. I mean to group 85-89 games with low 90 games is just wrong and confusing. Its a good thing only you seem to share this stance.

Its simpler and more practical to group things by the 10's. I mean to use a 95 game to make a 91 game suck by comparison is equally weird.....they both earned the badge of 90+ and deserve equal praise.

I am siding with pezus on this one. The PS3 version is in another league and you are getting overly defensive, because the 360 version turned out to be only "rent" material instead of "must-have" like the PS3 version.

I wouldn't say another league unless this exclusive content is like 5 hours long. I aint arguing that. PS3 version is superior in content.

Im arguing that 85-89 games have no right to be grouped with 90+ games and that is flat out wrong.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

No one considers Borderlands 2 for GOTY?

I hope not. It's hard to find a game with more boring missions than Borderlands, at least the first one.

But Borderlands 2 is awesome. I hated the first game and now I have dumped 53 hours into the second game so far. That's by far the most time I have invested into a game this year.

How can that be? In what way is Borderlands 2 significantly different?

Are you serious? You have no problem grouping a 80 game together with a 89 game but you have a problem with grouping a 89 game together with a 90 game? The whole scale is being used, not just the first number, and either way, anything above 85 is generally excellent - it's just a matter of how excellent.

Much much better in every way imaginable. There's a reason why it has a much better review score.

Aren't you familiar with Sales2099? For him the whole console war depends on that premise.

Edit: see above

One game now sets the standard for all else past, present, and future?

With AC3, it just means one is a better 80's game then the other but neither are 90+ material.

Fixed this for you. Neither is GOTY, but one is much closer

maybe you didn't read my post when I quoted you on the last page, but the two versions are only 2 points apart at the moment.

Now I'm curious. From my understanding the sequel (according to reviews) is just a refined version of the original, but nothing has essentially changed.

My main problem with the original Borderlands was that it was far too adapted to co-op play, which made the missions extremely simple and repetitive, and the overarching story presentation was so laid back and subtle that I found the whole game meaningless.

Main story is much deeper now. You will meet all playable characters from the first Borderlands on your journey.  The world is much less sterile. Lots of NPCs now and many have their own bunch of side stories to give, game length has been doubled. Much more different looking weapons. Many more enemy types.
Still a heavy focus on co-op but it's much more enjoyable than the first Borderlands on a solo playthrough.

I guess all those points are mentioned in the Gametrailers review as well so go watch it !
