Forums - Sony - New PS3 bundle coming to stores now, may be $199 on Black Friday

How much will this boost ps3 sales? serious question.

But the problem is this is rumored to be the BF bundle, I.e. a bundle that lasts for a single day, correct?

My point was to have ps3 at the $199 price point all through Christmas.

Oh yeah, most definitely if this is to be a one day special. If I have to knock over Grandma to pick one up on Black Friday, I'll pass. If I can get one through Amazon, great.

As for a one month sale (of which MS will be offering, albeit at a $50 discount), I'm not sure the Sony bean counters would approve, given that Sony seems more focused on generating profits rather than "winning" the holidays through highest volume sales.

well its a pretty good bundle if you want to get a super slim needs to be that price all holidays if you ask me to make an impression not just BF

Don't see how anything has much of a chance against a 360 plus halo and/or COD in the states this holiday tbh.

edit. Apparently Leo thinks this is off topic. It's about as on topic as you can be. It's a discussion about how a bundle can perform on Black Friday.  The opposition needs to be considered.

Why does the first answer to a new (and good) PS3 bundle must be like this?

This doesn't contribute to the discussion. It doesn't discuss the bundle, the games or the price.

It just says: Tiz zukz, Xbox gonna sell Better!!!11!

And you say it's about as on topic as it can be... Come on!!!! You know better than that

If you stick around these forums long enough you will realise that kowenicki doesn't miss a chance to throw in a stealth troll comment when it comes to Sony. As soon as he is called out on it he gets defensive and claims he is unfairly being targeted. Unfortunately he is a pro at what he does and continues to get away with it. Better to just ignore his comments when he posts in Sony threads.

@op

This is a great bundle and will sell well while providing great value to the consumer.

It's entertaining to hear someone else actually call him out for this, given his transparent nature. I don't know why he even bothers posting in Sony related topics other than to try to gain some negative attention from Sony fans.

Give it a rest. He is an attention whore, and nothing more.

OT: great bundle. The PS3 might have some pretty decent holiday sales, and Im hoping that the consoles popularity will have some positive effect on the Vita to

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

The 16GB model would be cheaper shouldn't it?

Nice bundle, but being that the $199 price point is limited to the Black Friday sales only, you have to question Sony's decision to keep the MSRP of the PS3 at $249 here in the states, because that would have done much more for the PS3's sales overall than a one-time BF bundle, especially with the rumored 360 bundles coming in even lower at around $150.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Not a bad deal, but not the games I'd recommend.

I'm Buying it !!!
I was going to have a Vita bundle just for Persona 4.. But seeing this offer and my poor wallet leave me no choice.
But is that 199$ going to be limited for one single day or what ? and when is this Black Friday ?

Amazing and thanks Sony do not did it GT5.

The comparison to Halo 4 is relevant. If this is true, a bundle this packed for as low as $199 then that honestly reeks of desperation. Either way it is interesting to compare.

Lmao.  Had a good laugh at that comment.  I guess when MS announces its Black Friday deals that will just be good business, right?  Or will they be desperate, too?

I honestly said the same last year when MS desperatily tried to reach its ambiotous goal of becoming the no 1 console of 2011 that the Holiday bundles were so generous that it reeked desperation.

Let's see, it's 50$ off a slim with a smaller than normal harddrive, and comes with games that have been out for a while already.
I would think desperation would involve cutting a lot of profit, but this doesn't really come off as such.
They didn't cut the slim price...hell they even said "consumers have spoken. They don't want price changes all the time, they want retailer discounts". That is a direct quote. So they really said "we could have dropped the price"; We are seeing that price drop now.

So is this really desperate? I'm not so sure. Seems pretty reasonable from a business standpoint, but seems insane from a consumer standpoint. I would argue that that paradox means that Sony did its job with this bundle. I'm sure you can agree to that.
