I honestly said the same last year when MS desperatily tried to reach its ambiotous goal of becoming the no 1 console of 2011 that the Holiday bundles were so generous that it reeked desperation. |
Let's see, it's 50$ off a slim with a smaller than normal harddrive, and comes with games that have been out for a while already.
I would think desperation would involve cutting a lot of profit, but this doesn't really come off as such.
They didn't cut the slim price...hell they even said "consumers have spoken. They don't want price changes all the time, they want retailer discounts". That is a direct quote. So they really said "we could have dropped the price"; We are seeing that price drop now.
So is this really desperate? I'm not so sure. Seems pretty reasonable from a business standpoint, but seems insane from a consumer standpoint. I would argue that that paradox means that Sony did its job with this bundle. I'm sure you can agree to that.
