Does Chromebook run full android OS. It might be good option for starter laptop than.

Chrome OS is not Android. It's a simplistic OS that does all tasks that the average consumer would need to do (Homework, email, and browsing). It does require internet connection though.

It may visiually look like Windows, but it is different. No windows program will run on it.

I was looking at Nexus 7 for my little cousin but i might look into this one now. The keyboard is certainly a bonus. Will have to see if it has an offline mode when not around internet.

Thanks for answering.

You can't go wrong with neither! Price and features are a win for both.

In regard to Chrome offline, I don't think it's possible due to Google pushing it's cloud system :(

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

Not any more. Notice it has a SSD and all google services now have an offline mode. It can work like any other PC. You could use this as a student and work offline when needed then connect and sync with Drive when available.

It does. Original ChromeOS laptops had no local storage, this one has standard SSD and all of Google's services now have an offline mode.

I don't see the point of the Chrome Laptop to be honest. Why not just go for a cheap laptop that actually runs Windows 7 or Windows 8?

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Wow, those RT tablets are incredibly expensive...

Can't imagine what the Pro models will cost. O_o

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

So, the Chromebook is a laptop not a tablet and runs ChromeOS which is not Android and can't run windows programs and on top of that you have to carry a ssd to have it work offline... is this real? Why would anyone buy that?

The entire Chrome OS project, while interesting, is still too flawed for general consumer use. The OS is too limiting for people who actually need to accomplish work on the machine. If your life consists entirely of browsing, email, and word-processing, it might work for you but if your life consists of anything more than that (and most of ours do), it's severely lacking in features.

Still, it's an interesting project. In 3-5 years, it could be more of a fully-featured device that is useful for the rest of us.

Could that thing run any games at all? I am mainly just interested in some single player Minecraft and Indie RPGs.
