How many studios did MS create? Seriously I have no idea. I don't know a single studio. How many studios have been obliterated since MS joined the industry? Answer: A fucking lot.

In the past year or so: Vancouver, London, Redmond, Victoria, Washinton and Good Science.

And 343 some time ago.

http://www.vancouversun.com/business/technology/Microsoft+lays+Vancouver+employees+cuts+major/6993838/story.html

and are Redmond and Washington really 2 studios or is it more like "Redmond, Washington (state)"? Yeah, my bad.

Googling London gave me a studio that develops tablet games. That's really...cool, I guess? Yes, it is. They're creating jobs for the industry.

So in total we've got 6 new studios, 1 of which received major cuts. I think that's a very good thing for the industry. I don't think I've listed all of them either.

for usa and uk this can be good but for L.A and rest of the world the console has to be sell for full price and if this "console" is going to be a monster ($1000 usd) i espect this next xbox not to have a big userbase in his life cycle; but who knows aparently for ms the only important markets are USA and UK.

34 years playing games.

Only way I would order a console on a subscription basis is if I can cancel my cable subscription, get all the same content and my bill doesn't go up.

If MS pulls that off and gives me an Xbox 720 beast of a console with TV, gaming, Xbox live, PVR and internet capabilities...for like 199, plus 30-40 dollars per month...I'm in.

Same here, if they could offer something like that I would totally go for it especially considering I don't have Cable.

@Vgking: I pay $2.08 for XBL a month, which is 0.0013% of my monthly income...DEFINITELY worth it (of course most other people are paying between $4-5 a month so I can see how you would think they are breaking the bank).

You make $16,000 per month? :)

Saying the Xbox is the most successful console worldwide is straight up lying.

Also, games are now only on fifth position after movies, tv shows, sports and music. Microsoft repeatedly states that Xbox as a gaming console was just a trojan horse to get a foothold in the living room and they will abuse this now. I can't comprehend how people can call themselves gamers and still support this bullshit. Microsoft is burning this industry down just to get into the living room to compete with Apple TV. They don't give a shit about games or gamers.

I've been saying this for a while, coming off to others as a "hater" or "not a true gamer", which is BS. My friend had an XBox 360 since launch and has spent over $300 in Gold fees over the years, just to play his games online. I don't believe MS is taking the industry in the right direction, they are stifling developers, and making payed services part of their payed service.

They aren't the only ones keeping Halo alive, i'm damn sure Sony would love to pick up that title but people can keep talking like MS is the only one showing compasion to a game other companies pushed off to the side and have no interest in. Besides, without Halo no one would give two shits about the XBox anymore.

And with this Microsoft has turned the videogame industry into the for profit cable industry. Lucifer has now become Satan.

This is a rip off. I'm sorry but it's true. $450+ for an Xbox 360 is ridiculous.
Instead of decreasing the price, Microsoft is increasing it.

I pray to god that people are smart enough to do simple math.

All you need to do is provide games for your console and people will buy it. If you are concerned about the install base of your console, decrease the price! This is how this works. Don't fool people into thinking your console is cheaper than the others and trick them into paying monthly fees.

You dont understand the concept of interest do you?

For a low down payment, you have a lower price of entry in exchange for paying more long term. You spend more money yes, but its good for many families who cant pay 100% upfront.

Stop descriminating against the lower class people. This tactic was invented a LOOOONG time ago before MS did this.

you dont take out loans on something that costs a couple houndred dollars. you do that on huge purchases/investments like homes and cars.

Just like any objective observer would say pay day loans are a horrible decision.

Low income families are the last people that should be thinking about utilizing this deal. if they cant afford to pay ~$200 upfront they should absolutely not be doing this deal. it makes zero financial sense. They should be paying bill instead with this money.

is this a great business model for microsoft? Yes. is it a good deal for the most consumers? No. but obviously microsoft is in the business of making money, and that is the only obligation they have, and they do a great job of doing. so, im not going to fault them for making good business decisions.

Not sure if serious or just bad trolling.

Although I will never buy a Microsoft hardware again, I think this is a pretty smart move. People don't mind spending more on installment. I hope PS4 have this type of offer in the future (not sure about Nintendo though).

LOL at the thought that this will be a console selling for more than $400... contract offers or not.

It will be, at most, a $400 console. Their test contract offer must have been successful, so you'll probably get it for $200 on a 2yr contract with some overpriced Live subscription.

I'm betting a base model close to $300 and super-duper model for $400. Kinect equivalent in both. Then $100/$200 on some sort of multi-year contract.

I still think MS will be more likely to follow a more cellular style system with moderate upgrades in power and new consoles every 2 or 3 years to match whatever contract model they use.
