Microsoft is burning this industry down just to get into the living room to compete with Apple TV. They don't give a shit about games or gamers.

Microsoft is the company keeping the Halo series alive. That alone proves your last sentence wrong. Still, of course Microsoft cares about games and gamers. If they didn't, people would notice and stop buying their gaming stuff.

And may I ask what's so bad about competing with Apple?

Ooohh so Microsoft keeping byrely enough franchises at hand to not blow their cover immediatly is now proof that they are still dedicated to gaming? They are spending about 30% of their available ressources on gaming, if even that. Keep supporting this shit though, I want to see everything fall in place too. For better or worse.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

I can't comprehend how people can call themselves gamers and still support this bullshit. Microsoft is burning this industry down just to get into the living room to compete with Apple TV. They don't give a shit about games or gamers.

Investing tremendously in the industry, opening studios and creating jobs all over the place = burning it down?

I still don't know what's the problem of this(see eurogamer comment),i mean i used subscription service to bought PS1/2/Wii/360,it's very common in Hong Kong

My problem would be paying $1000, for example, for just the hardware, across the life of the contract for the privilege of helping MS make more money.

(And no: super-powerful hardware doesn't interest me in the slightest, since almost all they ever use it for is more expensive paint.)

Saying the Xbox is the most successful console worldwide is straight up lying.

Also, games are now only on fifth position after movies, tv shows, sports and music. Microsoft repeatedly states that Xbox as a gaming console was just a trojan horse to get a foothold in the living room and they will abuse this now. I can't comprehend how people can call themselves gamers and still support this bullshit. Microsoft is burning this industry down just to get into the living room to compete with Apple TV. They don't give a shit about games or gamers.

So Sony using PS3 as a trojan horse to be a bluray player media hub is perfectly fine. Like PS3 doesnt have other media features.

Let me guess, Sonys divinity > blame.

You must mistake me for someone else. Look at my avatar. Now look at my sig. Now think about my allegiance for a second. But Sony is at least more about games than MS is. It's a shame that they spent some ressources to mimick MS but they are far from the place MS is in. Kinect just proves further that they literally jump on every fad to increase their userbase for the greater goal.

How many studios did MS create? Seriously I have no idea. I don't know a single studio. How many studios have been obliterated since MS joined the industry? Answer: A fucking lot.

You may not be paying attention with all the stereotypes and propaganda and Halo 4 hype, but 360 actually has more games this year not available on PS3.

Your 30% is made up. Nevermind they are opening studios and staffing up others.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

In the past year or so: Vancouver, London, Redmond, Victoria, Washinton and Good Science.

And 343 some time ago.

No. Over 40 million gold subscribers is solid proof though. (Not sure about that number. There are probably many more subscribers by now.) Otherwise gamers would notice and stop supporting them.

And it's not like there are no options to supporting Microsoft.

and are Redmond and Washington really 2 studios or is it more like "Redmond, Washington (state)"?

Googling London gave me a studio that develops tablet games. That's really...cool, I guess?

Only way I would order a console on a subscription basis is if I can cancel my cable subscription, get all the same content and my bill doesn't go up.

If MS pulls that off and gives me an Xbox 720 beast of a console with TV, gaming, Xbox live, PVR and internet capabilities...for like 199, plus 30-40 dollars per month...I'm in.

Same here, if they could offer something like that I would totally go for it especially considering I don't have Cable.

@Vgking: I pay $2.08 for XBL a month, which is 0.13% of my monthly income...DEFINITELY worth it (of course most other people are paying between $4-5 a month so I can see how you would think they are breaking the bank).
