Forums - Gaming - Why I think Nintendo left out cross game chat

Because someone else did it first.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Guys, I have found the answer:

Cross game chat would shift a decent amount of focus away from Miiverse... And Nintendo really want Miiverse to become a thing.

The real question here is whether he represents the "hardcore" gamer or the "casual" gamer. Then we would understand nintendo's motives.

Miiverse looks like Twitter with Webcam lol, also is that "Public" viewing that I see when he posted that message or is that only through friend activity (people you added as a friend)?

If its public , it could still go hand in hand with Cross game chat (since isnt Cross game chat mostly associated with people in your friend list?), also through cross game chat, its not like you'll be seeing the person while chatting.

Nintendo could of worked around with this feature and Cross Game chat I think.

The message board is irrelevant (to an extend. It is part of Miiverse, after all). In the end he called his old friend for advice through video chat. That would not have been necessary if there was cross game chat abilities, nor would it have been necessary to visit Miiverse in the first place.

So no cross game chat? That's a huge issue. That feature alone is the dividing line for many gamers who chose 360 over PS3. Next gen Nintendo is going to be the odd man out for online network features. Cross game chat is the reason it is easier to develop a friends base on 360. That's why 360 does the best job selling online games, it is easier to invite people, suggest games to play, and grab others to join.

That's also why it costs a monthy fee to active a live account. You end up paying for two consoles over 6 years, and then some.

No, Nintendo will not be the odd man out, that is a non-Nintendo gamer's wet dream. (imho)

What does that have to do with the Wii U having or a lack of having cross voice chat? Thats like saying if i pay for internet for 6 years thats the same as if i had bought something else for the same price. I will take 6 years of internet service over lets say a new TV.

To the op:

Don't rationalize this: it's a bad move, and there isn't a good excuse for it. Just let it go. Nintendo can be wrong. It happens. Move on.

But I did say nintendo should include it for those who need it.

Yes, and that's why it's free on the vita. So what where you saying?

It's because Nintendo lives in a bubble. Sometimes it can be a good thing, sometimes it can be a bad thing.

@Kitler and Ultimate.

You may think so, but Nintendo is the one paying the bills, and it is their PoV (as far as I understand it) that it isn't worth the time and effort. And to be fully honest, I don't blame them.

We take features for granted, but they cost money. Sony doesn't require PS+, so thye are giving it to the consumers. It's a big thing to give out for free.

@360boy. Whatevs. If you can't understand how an xbox live subscription amounts to 360$ over 6 years, something the PS and Wii owners don't need to pay, then I don't know what to say.

@ultimate. There is no headset issue, that's all in your mind.

That seems cool, but also is a good promotion for Skype to come to the Xbox.  Kinect is already set up, has a camera that can auto foccus on you, and crop out so only your face is shown, and work as a speakerphone.

I just hope that you get the option to make you face your avatar incase I haven't cleaned the room and such.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I'm sure somebody has mentioned this but the Xbox 360 didn't launch with Cross Game Chat. It was added years later. The PS3 STILL doesn't have CGC and I use a PX-21 Turtle Beach USB headset to communicate online with my PS3 (though it supports Blue Tooth). Even the 3DS and Vita have features now that they didn't have at launch.

Why, in this day and time, people assume that the console you have now is the console you'll have in the future is beyond me. If I were d21lewis from 2005 and I saw the Xbox 360 from 2012, I'd think it was an entirely different console. Also, I'd masturbate a whole lot more.
