Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 getting largest single price drop on record in Australia; could other regions follow?

If MS drops the 360 by $100 in NA prepare for a GIGANTIC holiday.

Interesting. The day of this price drop, Oct. 4th, is the same day of the 250gb 360 price drop in Japan. From 29,800 yen down to 19,800 yen.

Holy fuck lol, how much do PS3's and Wii's cost in AU in comparison?

PSVITA = $348

3DS and 3DS XL = $229-$250

Nintendo Wii + Mario Kart = $178-$198

PS3 160GB Model = $348

NEW PS3 12GB + FIFA 2013 = $298

NEW PS3 500GB + BORDERLANDS 2 + FIFA 2013 = $398

Wii U = $348 basic, $428 premium

1 EUR = 1.2589 AUD

1 AUD = 1.0253 USD

Talk about a drop. If MS does this everywhere else, they'll be selling lots of consoles this holiday season. 360 softaware sales would definitely get a boost if this happened.

Well given Aussie dollar>US dollar it's actually just bringing it into parity with the US prices. Great for Aussie, but not necessarily an indicator for the rest of the world.

Forgot about that. Hmmm maybe this is hinting at a global price cut?

I was thinking of this too!

It brings Australia in the same pricing to the USA, which seems reasonable to me.  I've never understood why it was so much more expensive in Australia, considering it doesn't have to travel as far from (most of) it's manufacturing source.

Plus, I think you can use it as a cable box on Foxtel, they got Bing voice search with Kinect last fall.  Seems like a good time for Aussie Xboxers.

PS I wonder when they will get Netflix?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Wow MAMA!

It cost so much becuase retailers priced it at double the USA cost when our dollar was litrally worth 0.5 USD. That was the reason they used for high prices until our dollar was worth more than USD. They just never dropped the price and used BS excuses like shipping costs, taxes, higher wages to staff (this one is partially true as cost of living in AUs is BS) and less people here than other countries, so cannot profit if lower price.

Foxtel yes,

netflix doesn't exist. we have quickflix here (not sure if its  part of netflix). quickflix is avaialble on PS3 for approx $15 a month for TV and movies.

" 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect will now be available for $299 ($100 price cut)"

So it just reached the pricepoint in some other markets?
