Dont get me wrong, i think its a good movement business wise, but the fact that many "core" gamers are going to neglect the WiiU gamepad in favour of this controller makes me feel sad

It already existed for the third time...its not a new release....
They were originally just going to keep using the Wii Classic Controller Pro but they opted for a redesign that matches the Upad.
It will no more diminish the Touch Screen Controller than the original Classic Controller diminished the Wii-Mote.
Seriously, it has the same layout as the Upad only with the features scaled down(no sensor bar, no NFS, no camera, no mic, and of course no touch screen). The only people I could see prefering this are people who just want to complain about and hate on the Upad for some reason. It adds nothing to the console. Its for people who can't get out of their old ways.
I don't plan on buying one. I already have the old classic controller which I prefer. If I find a game that works better with the old gamepads(which is doubtful) I'll just pull it out.

I agree, but remember that's their choice. Business wise (and you agree) it's important to let gamers make their own choices and give the consumer the option, as sad as their choice is (in other words I don't disagree).

Yes.

"it has the same layout as the Upad only with the features scaled down"
so whats the point of this controller then, playing with less features and possibilities?
this controller is made to atract the Gamepad haters, and i say, hate the haters, do not embrace them

I feel exactly the same and I actually hope that I can deactivate the rumble feature to lengthen battery life.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Then there's literally no reason for the pro controller to exist.
Oh wait, I just thought of one and defeated my own argument. Conceptually, the WiiPad is only for one player. But what are the other 4-5 people going to use? Rayman legends is the perfect example. One guy has the screen controller, and up to 4 other people can use pro controllers.
Yes, its the same button layout as the pro wiimote attachment. But it was still a wiimote attachment, and lets be honest, except for the nunchuck the wiimote attachments are pretty dumb. I personally hate being tethered to the want.
