Forums - Nintendo - EA sent ME3 on Wii U to die.

Yeah, Nintendo told EA they can keep their cruddy Origin. So EA got frustrated.

What are you talking about? Origins is in every copy of Mass Effect 3. The Wii U might have weak online, but its still got Origin intact in Mass Effect 3.

You are confusing EA Server sync-up with Origin. Origin is a form of DRM and an electronic distribution platform. It is not on any of the consoles.

No, I'm talking about their digital distrubution system that they are trying to use to compete with steam and set up annoying DRM.  They wanted to have Origin as the main storefront for the Wii-U and Nintendo simply said no.

I expected it to sell more like sigma 2 did. Since ea never mentioned what the sales figures of digital were it could have for all I know but as far as I'm aware it didn't. Feel free to prove me wrong.

For the wii u I haven't seen much buzz at all. I'm expecting this to tank badly. Its a pity as well because its far better then the rushed sports games with lacking content they usually bring out to launch.

So you expected to game to sell 750,000?? cause thats what Sigma 2 sold on PS3 which IMO would have been a fair estimate for ME2 on PS3, funny enough it not only met, but past that number. It sold 1mil+ not counting digital sales, so again how was the game a failure??

ME3 will tank because it has alot going againt it, even more than ME2 on PS3 did. Fanboys or not people actually cared when ME went to PS3, and it got some attention. Like you said yourself we're not seeing anything like that for ME3 on Wii U and its the last game in a trilogy, who the hell does that weird kind of release anyway? Especially one so reliant on the prior games. Plus its starting with a userbase of zero, where the PS3 had already sold millions, maybe it will have legs.

Thank you for proving me wrong. I eat my humble pie. The reaction to this trilogy means the wii u version must have had some kind of interest though. Even if it was just me and the original poster. I still think the trilogy will come in time. Either ea will do it anyway just to make a quick buck or perhaps they will see mass effect 3 sell more then they thought. Doubt it though.

I'm still buying it anyway. I haven't played mass effect 3 at the time and the idea of playing the series on nintendo is appealing to me.

One more thing to complete my year = senran kagura localization =D

Im sure Mass Effect  had interest from Nintendo, not sure about people though. Theres no people crying out for Mass Effect since there is no installed base. What Nintendo fans are crying out for are more Nintendo label products with more third party core exclusives. What EA is doing with putting only MS is proving there is no fanbase, but we hope this game sells a couple of units. I dont know if this is a mistake on their part and they didnt think about it, but it sends a bad image about the taste of early adopters that im sure doesnt exist. Let the trilogy launch and then if it passes or fail, that will be the fairest way to decide. There is no Mass Effect experience without the trilogy.

That's not how business works. EA is doing whatever they think will result in the highest amount of profit, just like every other company. (And releasing a game that they expect will sell poorly just to justify not releasing more games that they expect will sell poorly makes no sense at all. They would rather release nothing in that case.) They could have chosen not to release the game at all, and no one would give a shit since the game has been out for a while. But they expect good things to come out of this.

...Either that or Nintendo paid them to release the game.

It provides a justification against future investor revolt. One floptastic port, and you get all the justification you need to avoid the platform in the future.

however if the game performs well then what will happen then?
