Forums - Nintendo - Frustrated at my Wii!!!!

Back on topic:

Call Nintendo, it sounds like the DVD drive is screwed up.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Nintendo's warranty is a year long, and you can get it extended by an extra 90 days if you register it at Nintendo.com, so you don't need to be in a massive rush to get it fixed (not sure if it's the same in Canada, but that's what it's like in the US).

I sent mine for repairs recently, and I remember when I was going over their troubleshooting guide they had some stuff on disc read errors, so you might want to take a look at that before you pack it up.

CIHYFS?

Call Nintendo. If you have the console tilted or sitting at a weird angle, then set it upright. With all electroincs with optical drives, they are meant to be sitting the way they were intended to be sitting. Anything other than that can cause pressure on the writable surface of the disc and thus cause scratches which leads to a sad lolita not being about to play with her Wii.

Not sure if its a problem, but the blue light around the disc entrance glows on and off when its turned off. My gf mentioned it makes it look like its breathing... creepy!! It makes for fancy light shows in the early mornings when all the lights are off.

It's downloading info off certain channels (news, weather). It's nada to worry about.

I got a memory error one day ... emailed about the problem and got a response within 24 hours. (Tried to move a channel and do something else at the same time, causes a bad reaction).

So I'd call Nintendo. Its customer service is top notch.

(I've also had the black screen problem once where I had to do a hard reset).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I seem to have more trouble when it's "standing" than when it's "lied down". I just tried several times with different games and it worked at each times. O_o

Wii is so random! =__=

Optical drives are usually random when they're not working properly. Get your Wii replaced.

Call Nintendo, I had this problem last year and it did NOT improve over time.... They will send you a new Wii, and you use that box to return the old one. It took 5 days at most in my case.

My neighbour had this same problem with a Wii he got for Christmas except worse than you. Couldn't get anything to run for long.

It's a hardware issue and you'll need to contact Nintendo. They are usually very good for returns (returned a couple defective wii-motes). They have an option where they'll take your cc # and then ship a new Wii, once it arrives you send the old one back at no charge to you, but of course if you don't ship one back they charge you. Or just do a standard return.
