Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U region locked

This is about as surprising as the Wii U being powered by electricity.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Blimey, I did not know that the DS was region-free, for the most part... Well, I've learned something new! :)

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Disappointing. Also, predictable.

Region lock is jurassic crap.

Wow blow shit out of proportion much? This is only an issue because Nintendo is doing it. I bet 95% of the people yapping on here were never going to get a game from a different region anyway! And the other 5% aren't going to get Wii U.
Just something else to whine and complain about. Nothing to see here.

Ugh I hate region locked consoles. I travel around a lot, it sucks for me.

The digital distribution model for the Wii U should help with that a little.

you can soft mod the Wii to play imported games, thats how alot of people were able to play Xenoblade before US release and how I was able to play Fatal Frame.

But does that mod allows piracy too? Like, is it the same process?

I think it is the same process, my friend was the one who did it on his Wii and i just played Fatal Frame at his house

Blame Americans for region locking.

If they were not so damn cheap and paid their fair share for games other markets like Austraaia would not be subsidising their sales.

On a real note, this was obvious and so blown out of proportion.

This will make selling these overseas a bit harder. I'm sure someone will want them though.
