Does he seriously think the PS3 will steal the Wii's market? Why does Pachter get paid to do this? If anyone it should be John Lucas.

All im saying is, if it did occur that the PS3 was better with more fun games and everything, how many people would buy one? A lot of people dont want to look at the situation openly, because doing that would reveal how attract the PS3 COULD potentially become.

It touches every fanbase, and no matter what you want to play the PS3 has games in that category that might even be better than the game on your system.
Racing, fighting, FPS, TPS, Adventure, MMORPG, JRPG. Its all proven to be popular and majority of that is PS3 exclusive this year. Sure there is competition from both consoles, but does that mean MGS4 or GT5 isnt going to be amazing? FFXIII doesn't excite anyone who owns a Wii? Its denial of the community that convinces me that once people start to cave, the PS3 will have great momentum. You like the PS3 and its lineup, and at the right price you'll get one.

Viral marketing really only works online? What?!? That is so untrue and should be obvious from watching the Wii phenomenon.

I very much agree with patcher's prediction, to a point. Wii demand will definitely slow down and ps3 demand will grow when it hits that price point, but Nintendo will probably try to do something to counter the ps3. The Wii may still top out at #1, if they somehow find a way to keep interest in the Wii for the next five years, which i seriously doubt. The Wii doesn't have the long-term interest for the majority of buyers. It is sold solely as a games console so far, while the ps3 will probably turn into a media-hub behemoth in three years, on top of all the future games that will come, like FFXIV.

leo-j: Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII will have sold 5 million units worldwide by the time it's been out in each territory for at least 1 month.

I was waiting for someone to remember this prediction. Along with his LTD sales of Crisis Core being 10 million. He also stated Wii would be at 17 million by the end of 2007. I can't really think of a single prediction he has gotten correct.

I cannot believe somebody is still paying Patcher to come with this rubbish. Even a average joe-blow of the street with only a passing interest in gaming, could rip holes in his predictions.

I think leo-j dad is Patcher, so father like son. His prediction for the wii to be less than 30 million,LOL. Im sorry but that is just idiocy. There is no way its gonna sell half as much. It just makes you, think this guy is off his head and you dont bother listening to anything he says.

In any case even if this prediction he makes is 100% true and the PS3 dropping to $300 steals some of the Wii's thunder it bothers me that people forget that Nintendo still hasn't had to use ANY of their arsenal. They have price drops, colors, bundles, etc... that they can offer to try to rekindle interest the same as any other console...the difference? They haven't had to use any of it yet because interest is high enough on its own.

Pachters "Nintendomination ends [insert date]" fails just as hard as every other fanboy who spouts it. And sorry but if you listen to the guy on Bonus round or just about any interview he is a complete HD gaming fanboy the guy just doesn't get the Wii and that would be fine if it wasn't his job to understand it.

Can't you be a little less blunt and not make people run away crying?

I for one shudder at the memory of what my average post was like when I had the highest post count on the biggest Warhammer forum on the internet... at the tender age of 15. There was a petition with dozens of names demanding I get banned for being so damn useless. =P

Not sure if this has been mentioned...but does Pachter know the Wii sells for over $300 on eBay easily? Clearly, money is not the biggest factor...the biggest factor is Wii's popularity in the mainstream. That could die down in another year if people get sick of it, but until that happens, PS3 can't pass it.

The Gamecube can do anything the PS2 can do except play DVD movies. The reverse isn't true. 

Is that enough to make your understand why you made a very bad point, or shall I explain it futher? Theoretically there isn't anything stopping Wii games from being made on the PS3, but in reality the high cost of obtaining PS3 dev kits and developing HD graphics are going to mean that very few third parties are going to dare to even port anything that isn't a zillion seller. That's not even getting into the most important part, the huge difference in install base, that's going to keep getting wider for the foreseeable future. 

tl;dr: enjoy your smallest library with the least diversity.
