But isn't this already practiced in Nintendo games?
Take MK for example, they have a Global scale for Ghost races and (I think) points. It works, despite Wii never having an "Achievement System."

Its not the same as having all your games over years and years stack.
Time for hype

This. Plus the replay value added is insane. I bought star ocean for Ps3 in 2010, and now I have over 600 hours clocked in going for this insanely difficult platinum. It's a really nice extra to have imo.

Platinumed Destiny, Vanquish, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Catherine, and Metal Gear Rising. Get on my level!!
I still want a Wii U, but man hearing this was a big disappointment. I'll probably just continue buying multiplats for my 360 or PS3 then.

I really would like to see posts from PS3 fans before 2008 about 360 achievements... really.
It's just unbelievable how some people treat this matter. Deal breaker for me is having SMT 4 o Ace Attorney 5 (how can you put achievements on a game like this, also? Seriously, can someone answer me?) on a system plus lots of other games I care... but having a unified achievement system, really?... just mind boggling.

@bolded: I'm sure it will most probably reflect what a lot of nintendo only fans are saying right now. Should go to show that there IS an appeal in such a system being in place. There are communities built around them as well. THis is such a simple thing to impliment...add an option to hide notification pop ups and it would have served ALL sides.

Tbh, I only care about trophies/achievements because it shows off my game collection :/

It's a good idea but I don't think Acievements must be implemented (Universally) for it to not be a "lost cause."
I find it hard to believe people won't buy a game just because it doesn't give you points for playing it. I like getting my gamerscore up, but I wouldn't refuse to buy a console or game because it doesn't have a achievement system.

They are implemented. Just not obligatory.
Answer me if you have played before. How do you put achievements on Ace Attorney, for example?
If you haven't, it's a game where every single playthrough is the same, for everybody. Everybody achieves the same things when they finish it.
