Forums - Gaming - Apple finally Goes after Nintendo Head ON!!!! Nintendo expected to take legal action soon..

And this goddamned PC compay with all their emulators, they need to be put down next!!!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Apple is terrible at not approving apps like this that are ripoffs of other games. A while ago they even approved a Pokemon Yellow app, and couldn't even see that it wasn't Nintendo asking for approval. They need to stop approving apps like this, and Nintendo should sue them for making money off of their IP's.

haha, it is a promotion actually!!

u don't want to play this shit, so you get the real thing

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Three things come to mind;

1: "Apple are the greatest innovators of their time!" - every Apple fanatic ever

2: That is a really, really crappy game with incredible loading times (despite i-stuff's amazing hardware)

3: I cannot fathom how anyone can think that something as shitty as motion touch controls is even a vaguely good idea, the games are forced to play themselves half the time and even then it barely works and is unresponsive and downright shameful.

Why are you mad at Apple? Apple is not the publisher of these games. They were made by independent studios and simply got through Apple's licensing system. If Nintendo puts up a request Apple will ban them from the App Store.

Well, the licensing system is wrong. There was a Pokémon game there once... not a pokémon clone, a pokémon game, lol!

But this is too funny, look at that 3D Land game... the goomba!

Pays to know what people are talking about before they complain.

That "Pokemon game", known as Little Masters, which may look similar in photos in actually very different. For one, you are stuck in one spot, which in front of your character's house. You go to a billboard directly outside the yard, but still on the screen and post a request for hunters to find a specific monster for you (Of the ones available) and it gives you a time limit to expect them to hopefully return with success.

You then take those eggs and hatch them, which also requires time to pass.

I take it you never played it.

Now, if you are talking about when Pokemon Yellow got placed on there, well, that was then removed by Apple.

Edit - Crossed out a part I realized comes off real douche like.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Nope, still douche. :)

I was talking about that Pokemon Yellow and several other Pokémon games/apps that pop there from time to time. Just checked now and there are several available, including a no doubt best seller pokédex with in-app purchases

Point is, it's not that Apple removes them, its that they shouldn't be there in the first place.

Go check the Google Play store.

Appstore is incredibly tame compared to that.

I can't do that cause I don't own a single android device.

But really, it doesn't matter. Even if one's worse, both are wrong. There's all sorts of lincencing "slips" that pass through their licencing system, therefore it's wrong, as stated in my original post.

It would be legit to be mad at Apple because they block apps that are legit for selfish reasons, but let content like this slide their quality control system. It makes them horrifically biased.

No, it is not biased.  When Apple blocks an app for selfish reasons, it is because the app is in violation of Apple's developer agreement, something that Apple is uniquely qualified to know about (hence the term "selfish").  Apple is not qualified to know about Nintendo's copyrights and licensing deals with every third-party developer on the planet.  An app could look like a cheesy clone and still be legally licensed (e.g. Wand of Gamelon).

Judging by the Google Play store, it's a safe bet that for every shady app that actually slips through Apple's process, there are a hundred more that were successfully blocked.  The system isn't perfect, but it works: once the copyright holder becomes aware of the violation, they get the app pulled, so illegitimate apps never survive more than a few days of publicity.  Would you say that Google "goes after Hollywood head ON!!!" just because a handful of movies can be found on YouTube?
