Forums - Nintendo - Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 confirmed for Wii U

If the Wii U version doesn't sell 10 million in a month it is proof it is not a hardcore console.

This statement is completely ridiculous.

I doubt there will even be that many Wii U's in existence at that point and most people are going to buy it on the system they already own as that is what they are most familiar with and that is what all of their friends who they've built up online over the years are going to be playing the game.

I expect no more than 2 million for this life on the Wii U. It should be much larger next year when their are more consoles in circulation.

Soo...would it be possible to play this using just the Pro controller? The playpad (or whatever it's called) doesn't appeal to me.

Also, how will Wii U graphics compare to PS360?

Yes you can play with Pro controller, gamepad and Wiimote/Nunchuck pointer controls. Pretty much anything you can imagine is suppported.

As for graphics, it will at the very least be on par with the PS360. But the guy from Activision seems to have said that the game will be in full HD, which means 1080p at 60 FPS. This may or may not be true since the PS360 versions don't do true 1080p, but the Wii U version will at least be as good graphically as the PS360 versions. Plus two people can play on the same console at the same time, one on the gamepad screen and one on the TV screen, which is amazing because there is no more need for split screen.

Indeed, but expect people to fight for the TV. Why play it on a tablet when the TV is much larger?

Yeah unfortunately that's true, but this is still a lot better than split screen as seen on PS360. I play on 360 and the split screeners are almost always on the botton of the leaderboard every game, probably because they have a truncated view. At least with this they both have two screens to play on once one guy has beaten the **** out of the other to get the TV. That way their gameplay will hopefully be better.

I'm sure KylieDog was being sarcastic. No one expects Wii U to come out of left field with 0 install base and do the same numbers as the PS3 version of the game. I would expect the Wii U version to sell about the same as the PC version of it. Somewhere between 2-3 million. 4 million highest if miracles happen and the Wii U sells like hotcakes.

If the Wii U version can break 1m as a launch game with no real install base (i.e. match Wii) it should be considered a success.

Next iteration will surely grow that as now Nintendo owners have a real COD experience with tons of control options to boot.

this isnt news, COD was already released on wii

Other consoles don't even do 720P for cod.  And on the Xbox at least it isn't upscaled either.  There's black boxes on the right and left side of the screen when I played black ops 1 with the resolution set to 1080i. So we'll see. The controller doesn't do HD I believe.

That's weird. Never seen that with any cod. All are upscaled to the tv's capabilities from what i experienced. May be you are right.

Oh snap, I meant for split screen.
