Now if only these games were any good. I mean, Mario is good...but the Wii series are all shovelware. Mariokart, Smash Brothers, New super Mario, all awesome.

Xbox is all halo and Gears of War, Kinect Adventures is Shovelware.

PS3 is distributed amongst the uncharted series, two Gran Turismo games, and all different stuff beyond that. Then there's Sports Champions, which is the same kind of shovelware that Kinect Adventures and the Wii games are.

Why does this thread exist?

Because you buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games not for their 3rd party support.

When consumers see 'Wii' in the title, they think games without 'Wii' in the title aren't entirely Wii games. And so, they buy the games with 'Wii' in the title.  It's a (dirty) psychological trick.

All Wii games have "Wii" on the front cover. Any assumption of quality on the consumers part for the "Wii" title games stems from the good experiences they had with Wii Sports and Wii Fit... Resort and Fit Plus are sequels (well Fit Plus is more like a definitive edition). Mario Kart and Super Mario Bros were already very popular franchises, having Wii in the title is merely a good way to differentiate between prequels and sequels for games that are not based on story (and without simply using a number, which after so many years of titles does start to get dull)

ok they have one game that i would buy in the top 10 and maibe smash brothers but camon , that top 10 shows why sales =/= quality.

I believe Wii Sports/WSR are very good and have enough quality for the genre they are. Dunno about the others, although MKWii is not the best MK.

Simple really, Nintendo's strategy. Nintendo's strategy involved creating/targeting games are the people who spend thousands of hours playing Bejeweled. Easy pick up and play games and marketed them appropriately. So it's not surprising games like Wii Sports, Resort, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros. Wii have high numbers. To contrast, the games that didn't target that audience didn't really sell more than Playstation exclusives.

- The vast majority of that install base buys almost exclusively Nintendo stuff.
- Virtually no competition from third parties.

It makes me sad that only one game I consider to be good is in the top 10 of Wii's list. Well PS3 also has only 6, 4 of which I played, so 4... Well, I won't talk about XBOX360...
