So it's clear that ticket sales have been decreasing somewhat over time.

But it would be inaccurate to attribute this all to piracy. For one thing, cinema tickets are far more expensive than they used to be. DVDs, streaming services and cable TV have provided a more reasonable and in many ways more comfortable movie-watching experience. With personal computers in our homes and internet connections, not to mention video games, and all of the other things invented in the last 30-odd years, we have far more entertainment available now than people did a few decades ago.

Piracy certainly has an effect, but I doubt it's a big one.

You mean "affect". "Has the internet affected theater sales? HELL NO"

Also, "Internet" is a proper noun, thus it is capitalized, not lower case.

Generally speaking, while the initial belief in the early 2000's was that the Internet did have an effect on movie sales, the general conclusion was that the real issue was crappy movies. The amount of crap released over the past 10 years makes the B Movie era of the 1950's and 1960's look pale.

Were it not for the internet, Paul Blart Mall Cop would have been the number one movie of all time. Prove me wrong. You can't do it.

I would rather watch Observe and Report.  Loved the slow motion scene with the fat nude guy running.  Had a good song to go with it also (Pixies - Where Is My Mind).

Perfect! :D

There is a cartoon on Reddit about two friends competing for the most comments on Reddit.  The first guy post a thread about everything Reddit loves, cats, atheism, pot, and evolution, but gets fewer than 100 comments.  The other guy posts a thread with a grammatical error and gets over 400 comments.
