Man, this thread is full of nothing but a bunch of roody-poo candy ass "artists" that in any other musical era wouldn't even be worthy enough to get coffee for the top acts of the day.

This thread needs to be CRUSHED... and I've got just the band for the job.  With my personal album of 2012 so far, here's one of the all-time thrash metal greats, Overkill.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Great band!  Poetry For The Poisoned was one of my fav albums of 2010, check out some tracks like The Great Pandemonium and If Tomorrow Came from that album if you like Kamelot.  I'd also recommed bands like Stratovarius and Nightwish if you like Kamelot's style of metal.

Metal can be tough to get into at first because it's always stereotyped as a bunch of pasty white dudes with Cookie Monster vocals, especially here in the US where the only "metal" the average person knows besides Metallica is stuff like Slipknot and Disturbed.  But there's so much great metal music out there that covers almost the entire music spectrum from the harder thrashy stuff obviously, to the more melodic and symphonic, and even folksy / blues metal if you can believe it.

I felt these past few years have been pretty good to Indie music. To name a few:

The XX (although their album came out in 2009, I just recently grew to like them a lot, plus their second album is coming out on the 12th)

Beirut
Beach House
Bloc Party

Then there are bands from different genres who have recently released something new, such as:

Regina Spektor
Muse

This is the true definition of owning.

bold: I LOVE black halo alot, it's a shame Roy Khan left the band for good. They released a new single 2 days ago, I am not sure how I feel about it. The new vocalist feels like a softer Roy :/. I am checking nightwish as I am writing this, they certainly sound similar.

Not bold: I got a lifetime to explore music, I'll cover all of those sometime ;D
