No way, smartphones and tablets are eating major marketshare right now and WiiUs right around the corner. They would be happy they even manage to hit 70m.

And isn't that more likely to attack dedicated handhelds....?

You predicted 15m vita's by Christmas.

But if you are trying to be sarcastic and witty. Try harder. Because the first half of what you were saying is half true, those devices are eating handheld marketshare.

I think your sarcasm detector is broken mate. I predicted more than 105m for PS3. And I'm not talking about Vita or handheld market.

I don't blame you.

Read the thread title and come again.

The 360 will make it.

The PS3 can break 100 million if Sony play their cards right.

Both will, easily. By the end of the year they'll be at comfortably over 70m.

X360 85 million lifetime

PS3 100 million lifetime.

Xbox 360 = 80million

No new ip's, likely games backwards compatible with 720, MS will probably stop supporting 360 like with original xbox.

PS3 = 90m

Lot's of new ips, possible slim model with price cut, continue support in next gen, no backwards compatibility with PS4.

Around the Network

Both will end up anywhere between 85-100 Million.

How far into that, depends on when next gen consoles release.

why?

Because Sony will support the PS3 much longer than the X360 will be supported by MS. There will probably be a few exclusives for the PS3 in 2014 and Third world sales will be substantial in 2014-2016, much like we've seen with the PS2 in current gen.

That old chestnut.  On what do you base this? The original XBOX had distinct issues (re manufactring) and a small userbase.

3rd party support is FAR more important, 3rd parties will support 360 for as long as they support the PS3 no question.  They arent going to ignore an 80m userbase.

Out of curiosity, where do you predict the PS3 will land, and why?

I can't specifically point to anything other than that old chestnut , but my perception is that MS has a different business philosophy than Sony in this regard. MS will very actively push and stimulate people to migrate to the new echo-system as quickly as possible while Sony is much more old-fashioned and disconnected and therefore always tries to handle more than what is practical.

Both should reach 80 million next year.

Go Team Venture! I still don't get the Wii, PS Move,  and Kinect.
