Forums - Website Topics - "Local slags" pop-up...

I just clicked the 'Hot topics' page and an ad popped up on my iPad screen which had 4 ugly, overweight, naked, unshaven, middle-aged women with the headline 'LOCAL SLAGS"*

*For American users: Slag is another word for slut in the UK.

Is this a problem with my iPad having a virus? (I thought they were virus proof?) Is this a VGChartz ad? Are other people having the same problem? Or is something much more sinister at work...?

Around the Network

I believe the advertisements you see check your search history in order to give you adverts for things you might be interested in.

Slags huh? Nice.

The problem is actually with the ad brokers. Some ad brokers don't check content when posted to their ad services (Google Ads for example does), so when the ad appears in rotation viewers are treated to inappropriate ads.

This is how the Fake Anti-virus ads are populated.

Generally the solution to this is to disable pop-ups from certain hosts.

Lol, I feel bad for you MBP. xD

It popped up my lap top too from here. It's nothing serious though.

And macs aren't virus proof. That a myth. Not sure about iOS, but I don't see how it can be totally virus proof. Macs just don't have as many virus due to the small number of users, wasnt worth the effort to write a virus. That's changing now though.

It can... and does.

Apple seems to like to play pretend when it comes to security though.
