I agree with this report, there's a difference between making a thread about a concept and trying your best to back up your statements as best you can even if it's something controversial like the apparent 180's by MS and just tossing out a term like X180 in a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with it.

for me, I feel some mods can be too harsh and biased themselves to properly mod. it's frustratingly hit or miss. I know sometimes it's a judgement call, but a "trolling post" in a trolling thread merits a ban? You guys ban folks for "trolling" yet you allow numerous troll and bait threads to exist. Why not ban the OPs who post trolling threads or news media articles that do nothing but generate trolling? Given what I've read in the forum rules, "Posts or signatures slamming a particular platform without basis - be it a specific console, macs, windows, or anything similar - will not be tolerated. This applies to specific games as well as consoles.", how are threads like "Sony losing E3.." "DX12 Xbox boost..", etc.. or even threads generated from news articles that directly promote trolling, and even sigs and gifs that bash consoles abide by the very same forum rules you guys have implemented? Or banning the word "fanboy" from being used, but those with more posts can post it without being moderated? there is no consistency in the mods or upholding of forum rules. it's also a joke when considering that you guys moderate quite frequently for users with less than 200 posts because "new users have not yet shown a commitment to civil discourse" yet you have flamers/trollers/baiters who can get away because they've posted over 200 posts and yet still does not show "a commitment to civil discourse". it seems it's all pick and choose and whatnot..

my first ban to me was justifiable at first because I used the term "fanboys" then got banned. read up the rules and agreed, my bad.. so ban ok.. only to come back into the same thread and have others post "fanboy" or "troll" and what do you know?.. no ban. not okay.
my last ban was because the mod thought I was "trolling MS" even though the whole thread is a bait troll thread about why "Sony will lose E3". Yea, so I said, wait and see (especially for those that crossed over from xbox to ps), just because they aren't announcing a bunch of rehash and sequels and Sony's got a good track record of releasing games, so chill.. yet I get banned? while others can go on saying things like "ps4 has no games", "people saying sony won, are just fanboys".. and it's okay? no consistency..

I've lurked these forums for a while now (tracked hw sales since 2007) and only up until a few weeks ago did I finally create an account. Not because I felt my opinions mattered much, but because of all the nonsense threads, "troll threads", that began popping up about console hardware differences and secret sauces, especially with the 8th gen console. The trolling was ridiculous on both sides but the moderation was basically non-existence, only to find out it only exists for new users. Reading a few posts back, even in this thread, it's apparent that those who flame and troll are marked, yet you've got users who do nothing but flame and bait and nothing happens for the very same thing that you get banned for. No names as most are pretty obvious when they show up in certain threads, but it's that lack of consistency; with mods, forum rules, and actual moderation, that makes me feel the mod team is hit or miss depending on who is mod and in what particular thread.

lastly, it wouldn't surprise me I'd get ban again for tossing the word "fanboy" and "troll" in this thread... my post count is under 200. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the poll you guys set up to poll the mod performance is unfavorable..
