Without knowing what the petition is about it comes across as extremely petty, these people can make a clandestine underground movement but can't post in a thread?

If the recent Mario Kart 8 tournament conspiracy is anything to go by, then yes. Yes, those people can start an underground movement, but can't post in a thread.

That's a good point, here's hoping that this movement gets mercilessly stamped out also.  Opinions of such people deserve that much.

Since Conegamer asked for criticism, I'll say that I think he's far to triggy-happy with the ban button (see the moderation of imaginlvl - or whatever his name is - as an example). This applies to many of the other new mods too. I'll give more examples when I get to a computer.

that's clearly flamebait. Implying a first party exclusive series would come to a competitor's console.

"will" instead of "would"
"when" instead of "if"

False statements are not automatically flamebait. If I say "I played Uncharted 2 on my Xbox 360", I don't think I would be moderated (at least I hope I wouldn't). It's not flamebait because it doesn't downplay any product or insult a fan group. You might say it provokes extremist fans who are so in love with a game that they take offense at the mere mention of it being on another console. But I don't think you want to call a post flamebait based on the reaction of others rather than the quality of the post itself.

Seems Carl and Cone are being used as scapegoats since they are two of the more active mods new or not. As a result any team decisions behind the scenes they are taking blame for, this can easily be seen in Ravens ban over quote trees, and taco's refusal to accept that it is a modable offence as seen in this very thread.

Nation threads were a nice idea in theory but a headache in reality, comprising of mostly spam that has gotten far too much leniency and now that there are sufficient amount of mods to take these threads to task people are up in arms because boundaries which should have been followed to begin with are being reaffirmed.

Without knowing what the petition is about it comes across as extremely petty, these people can make a clandestine underground movement but can't post in a thread?

Bolded; I can get behind that 100%, Carl and Cone are by far the most active of the new mods and they were very active posters (a lot more so than me) before they got promoted, meaning they have more "enemies" on the boards than me or viper1, for instance and the older mods are mostly quite popular (because they're good at what they do).

Italic; classic damned if you do, damned if you don't, in nation threads (and some others) a lot of users could, and did, complain about being too nice in moderating these threads and now that we had a crackdown on some of the things going on in them, some mods get yelled at for trying to clean up the mess in said threads.

I guess I've never been a controversial user, certainly not enough so as to get in trouble with the mod team. This sort of reminds me of working the door at clubs and bars; you do your job and repeat offenders will eventually start attacking you for it, citing unfair treatment, bias and all other forms of belittling of decisions that have consequences for them. I have a few acquainntances that have run into the law a few times, all of them invariably hate the police while those who have kept theirs on dry land have pretty much nothing against them except in a few special cases, and then more often than not against the individual and not the corp as an entire unit.

I'd like to refer to a previous post I made in this thread, which takes up some of the same issues and how I see it;

I was five days late seemingly ha.  Your second paragraph could probably be sent to Jay since it is concerning mutual respect, something that was being skirted about prior.

All of this isn't to say that there are no issues, there are, and there always will be as is human nature.  No one is correct 100%, something not helped by much of this being opinion, I've had several reports made where nothing has happened I don't bitch and moan I move on and assume that others see it differently.  Restraint is something people could use more of, I don't post as much as I could because I'd be interacting with people I really don't want to, and behaving in a way I don't want to.

I don't know what the problem is. You blamed Conegamer for being trigger happy, I (another mod) totally agree with him and there are certainly other mods that would agree with us as well.

The post in question just begs for a reply that would go something like this: "duh, this series will never come to xbone sucker".
It's just as unnecessary as people posting in Titanfall (or any other 3rd party exclusive) threads "will wait for the inevitable and superior ... version." or people saying "can't wait for Nintendo to buy the Playstation division when Sony goes bankrupt" in every financial thread.

You can spot the difference between; "Just finished a session of Gears of War on my PS3" and "Oh, that's cool for xbox owners I guess but I'll just wait for the inevitable release on PS3", right? That's not a pleasant tone for the forums.

We discuss many of these cases and we do let some of them slide, it's all about the intention of the post. In this case, I agree that it feels like the intention is rile people up. One could argue till the face goes blue about whether or not people should be mature enough not to get angry over such posts; but that's beside the point, the truth is that instigating or attempting to instigate an argument in a topic that is in no way angled towards it in the OP or otherwise, is highly unnecessary and thus against the wishes of the mod team and in many case even the rules.

Start linking people to the reasons people are banned. If you all cant put it in the description of your moderation then put the link on the user's wall.

Not really going to disagree with FishTacos here either. People are leaving this site and it shows. Im pretty sure ioi would like you guys to keep people here instead of pushing them away.

It's really no big deal. You see the post number the user was banned for, so just open a random post and replace the post number with the one you like to see in the URL.

OR

click on the link and then add "vgchartz." before the "com" in the URL.

Or install Gnac's lovely Greasemonkey script. Fixes that and tweaks a few other little issues with the site.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Where do I sign or where can I get more info on this petition? Can someone PM me more details please? Thanks.
