| Mmmfishtacos said: I feel the mods have really gone downhill sense the new ones came on board. Carl should have never been a mod, He's not professional enough to handle the position. This is highlighted by his recent post. Not to mention his history of bragging about getting people banned before he became a mod. Quite possibly the worst decision ever made by the mod team by bringing him on board. And that is echoed threw out the community. People are leaving this site, while he isn't the main reason for it. He certainly plays a role in it. |
See, this whole situation is putting us in a tough position, I'm very grateful you took your complaints in here and I can't say I've ever seen you behave badly at all but your post (that got you banned by wish) kind of creates a self-fulfilling prophecy in trying to make the mod team appear as douches. If we chose to ignore the post, that would make us look weak and ridiculous and if we ban you then we serve to push your point and make a sort of martyr out of you. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
On the whole; I feel that my new colleagues are doing a good job but nobody is perfect, including me. It seems to me that ever since pezus requested his permaban, a lot of users have added fuel to the fire and started conflicts so they have an excuse to leave or a chance to point out that the mods are childish and/or biased or something akin to that. All this is doing, the way I see it, is forcing us to moderate quite a few people who are actually good users and posters on the most part and I think it's unfair if anyone were to blame the whole situation on us mods. I've been mentioning in a previous post in this very thread how important it is to understand the synergy of any online community; moderators owe the users respect but the same is true the other way around and right now it feels like a part of the community simply wants to peg someone to the cross, and that is seemingly the mod team.
I haven't personally had any conflicts in this particular instance or in the whole PSNation debacle but I still feel like speaking up because I've come to love and cherish this community, there's a reason why I've stuck around for almost seven years now.
I'm fine with criticism, but it should be on-point and fair, and constructive, these last few days feel more or less like an all out offensive to create a boogeyman to blame and there have been several instances of users starting discussions on moderations in other topic threads, they chase down mods or banned users and rile up the mood by stating a ban is unfair (don't get me wrong; some bans are unfair and we do make mistakes) or they hunt down banned users and taunt them on their walls. Others still make use of their time complaining about every single moderation they get, not realizing that they have behavior patterns that is leading to bans, which are progressive in nature, yet they come back feigning shock at receiving long bans. If a certain type of behavior has lead to your being banned several times before and you simply refuse to change your style; you actually have yourself to blame.
It's not very hard to avoid bans and moderations; I've managed to attain only two warnings and no bans in my time here.
If anyone else feels like becoming a martyr for the cause (?), they will probably come forward but I implore every single user to think long and hard about themselves; we have higher up's monitoring and guiding us and they let us know when we make mistakes, why is it so insufferable to be subject to the same treatment? If some feel that it is more pleasant to attribute all the woes of the community to the mods being bastards; then so be it, but I hope that this won't become the trend from here on out.
PS: There were mods on the site that I didn't like either and I also felt like some were being unfair, especially in my early days, yet I never started shit with them or blew anything out of proportion. I still care a great deal about this forum and only wish for stability and healthy discussion (and long-ass posts, obviously...).
