I go under a never report anything policy (almost) and recommend and wish everyone did the same. . Since we are voicing our opinions, I say once again Radish Head proved he is to young and sensitive to be a mod. There are still too many mods.

I don't see how a 17 year old is any less capable of modding a forum than any one else? I know for a fact Radishhead has a lot of forum experience and I know a lot of 17 years who are far more level headed than older people which has been proven in a few cases on this forum. I think those of you saying that Radish is too young for mod position need to think about how childish that view is.
As to this ban business, it was a completely stupid ban even if the original comment didn't really add much to the thread it was in. Isn't there any way of marking on the mod history that the ban should be disregarded in future cases (assuming there is any) and using this as a lesson to the mods as to what people should and shouldn't be banned for? I'm sure a one day ban didn't exactly ruin Kowen's experience of the forum and if it helps the forum become a better moderated place was it really that bad in the long run?
Sure Radish behaves maturely to a degree, but once you get to know him, he's still very young at heart and mostly Inexperienced. At least that's how I observed him over the many years I've played mafia with him . Maybe it's because of my close affiliation with him that I see that and most others do not.
Is that counted as flaming? Serious question coz I don't know anymore.

I'm pretty certain that that doesn't count as flaming. It's not like you are hating on Radish for no reason you are just stating our opinion. Ofc I have to disagree with that opinion having known Radish for 6 years irl and as such know for myself what he is like. It's not really that that got to me though, it was just people outright saying he was too young? It annoys me having people older than me tell me I can't do things purely because I am younger than them -.-

No, it isn't. I think the rule on flaming is really clear cut.
Trolling is more of a problem. There's a lot of grey area, and I think we as mods need to do more to classify exactly what trolling is. It would help if we had the ability to edit the forum rules.
Some mods are decent, some are average and some are terrible and a certain recent 1 day ban was just plain terrible as well.
And considering I'm mainly a lurker now that's all I care to say about the mod team here.
Here's how I feel about issues surrounding too much moderating and lack of moderating.
When I was a regular member, I had the same policy that Chocoloco had. I never have reported anyone. I think that it has too do with my upbringing where my parents said that "Nobody likes a snitch." After recently becoming a mod, I have learned that the report button is very important. About 95% of the work that I have done since getting this job is because of the report button. I can't be in every thread and read every post. So what I'm saying is that I encourage members to report something when they feel that it is an obvious violation of the rules.
But I ask you not to report every single minor thing that you see. Think of us as the cops on this site. Would you really call the cops if there was a drunk guy walking down the street singing kind of loud late at night? I hope not. But shame on you if you don't call the police when the guy next door is beating his wife for no reason. Do you get what I'm saying? I hope so.
Also, if you have a problem with the job that any of us are doing then feel free to bring it up in this thread and if you really think that a gross injustice has happened, then by all means talk to Axumblade about it. If someone is doing too much moderating then that's the guy to talk to.

Me and Kowen have solved the dispute that arose after the decision, for the record. No harm done, right? As I said, it's just part of the journey.

_______________________________
Substance. Content is king. Threads lacking content can and will be locked. Some tips to keep you and your posts out of trouble:
Do not post just a link. Links have context - expound upon that context. For example, Mario Piano Videos. Post a link, but also give some background on what the link is to, or better yet, comment on how Mario has influenced pop culture. This way, it's not just a link and run. Remember: the reader's interest is not only in the link, its in what you have to say about it, how you make sense of what would otherwise be a blind link (and a subsequently poor thread). The only exception to this rule is for game patches - bearing in mind rule 3, go ahead and get that link posted as fast as possible.
Do not post only that Item A sucks, or that Item B is better than Item C. Give reasons why, post links to documented problems, of screenshots, or whatever you can. Similarly, do not reply to other posters with "you're wrong." Explain why you disagree, and perhaps point to the correct answer.
No "In Before The Lock" (IBTL) posts. Repeat offenders will be warned, and disciplinary action will be taken if those warnings are not heeded.
No spoilers in threads which are not clearly marked for them. One year is the cutoff under which a 'spoiler' becomes 'general information', which can be discussed in any thread at any time.
Spam, or multiple short replies in a row without any substance, is not allowed. Explain and justify your opinions. If you have nothing to add to a topic, then go to another topic and post in there instead. Similarly, even if it's well defended, repeating your opinion about a console or game multiple times is also spamming.
Keep posts on topic as much as possible. Threads do sometimes naturally transition into other discussions, but coming in and posting about a completely different topic in order to start arguments is not okay. Stay on topic, and if you have something different to talk about make your own topic.

I think rules on spam need to be enforced harder. Certain users get away with the same shit, over and over again. Rules regarding spam, spoilers, etc. should be taken as seriously as rules regarding flaming/trolling. It brings down discussion just as much as calling someone an arsehole and waters down the quality of the forum.
tldr - Warnings and bans should be handed out to persistent spammers. Its in the rules.
